    • True, the afternoon slump is a natural part of circadian rhythm, but generally it should be a slump not a nosedive.  And you are absolutely right that things like super carby meals or running a half marathon would factor into your fatigue levels no matter your caffeine timing.  However, early morning coffee consumption prevents the body from from clearing the last remnants of adenosine (the sleepy hormone) from the system.  It's normal for adenosine to increase over the course of the day, but now you would have more of it in your system to hit mid-afternoon.   It is also worth noting that the researcher who proposed this strategy says not to worry about delaying coffee if you do a hard workout in the mornings.  Go ahead and have a cup before your workout.   More scientific rationale aside, in my expansive clinical trials of n=1 for 7 days 😜, I hydrate better if I delay coffee.  Normally, I drink coffee with breakfast and forget to drink anything else until lunch.  Now, I drink water at breakfast and have the coffee later.
    • Good morning! Enjoyed the noon Eucharist yesterday, leaving my office at the end of the day really wasn't that bad, since I'm really just going one floor away, and made solid fencing progress in the evening.    Porting my fencing list over from last challenge for things I would like to have done before bringing a new horse in: Fencing Milestones, Sanctuary points for each task done: Remove fenceposts Done on Wednesday! And it's so satisfying. I'm going to start putting temporary fences up everywhere just so I can pop the fenceposts back out.  Clear exterior fence Done yesterday! I love my new fence line trimmer, should have bought that thing years ago. Run hot line at top of exterior fence - with the fence cleared, it's hitting pretty good right now, so this has been bumped down the priority list a bit. If I have time before a new horse comes, I'll still put it up, but won't delay transport just because this isn't done. Actually got all the stuff thinking I may not get a new horse until Spring, and wanted the extra hot line to keep my gelding from getting any ideas about going to search for buddies. If he ends up having a buddy right in the pasture with him, this isn't a problem. Clear interior fence line This is today's job, and I'm not looking forward to it. But it will be very nice when it's done. Run new interior fence line Ideally would be done today, but that depends on how clearing goes. Once the line is cleared, stringing new fence should go smoothly.   Deadlifts at 9, class at 10, fence work for the rest of the day. Sneak some breaks in there to work my horse and read. And maybe nap.   Shaping up to be a beautiful day here, hope all of you can have a beautiful day as well, whatever the weather!
    • @DeRaiL Thank you so much for sharing. I also missed exercise as i was ill this week, but I fgure I'm in for the long haul now so have to accept that it was necessary and actually very nice to rest. I am using a meditation app and finding much the same issue with just going through the motions at times. I'll reflect on your decision and see where I land.
    • Gaaaah it's like waiting for deliveries. Spend all day waiting and then they deliver it to the post office because they can't be arsed to call or knock on the door.
    • Beautiful challenge!   But the afternoon slump is part of the natural circadian rhythm... Also wouldn't postponing the coffee only postpone the crash? I know where this is coming from I'm just skeptical. Could be an interesting experiment, but what and how much you eat and how busy you are in the morning seem like much bigger factors to me.
    • ❤️   Do you feel safer/calmer now that you know Mr Harriet chooses you over offspring?   My typical reaction when people show me "cute" kids things is to stare at them incomprehensibly. Or go ew if it's a baby. People don't seem to like that for some odd reason...
    • Week 0, Friday Forest Encounters - N/A   Exploration - did a little bit of bouldering, but my friends were interested in climbing (ropes), so I did that with them (+3 xp). I did a couple routes in the 5.10-/+ range, but did get one 5.11- (on the second attempt) (+2 xp).   Clearing the Safe House - Bathroom Tub (it was kind of exciting to see this become cleaner!). 14 to hit and 5 damage just kills the second giant wolf spider (+50 xp). One more slash took the legs off the spider and it crumpled into a heap.   Fletching/Songs/Short Rest - Blackberries (the corner of the house is visible!), dex check of 12 is a failure on the arrow attempt (Feathers 43). Practiced songs. Candles and teeth, so that's a short rest. Hal stared, disappointed, at the mangled mess of the next arrow attempt. This was supposed to get easier, right?   Tracker
    • Winterarc sounds cool. Not something ive come across, but sounds fun 😄 goals looks nice, hope it goes well for you
    • Totally. We're all self care and kindness.     He's still working on it, but yeah, he wasn't even able to name his feelings before the therapist did.     Thank you my darling Sov.     Yeah. I also need to give him some space to reflect and grieve. I do want to resist the idea that it's all my choice, though, since he is 45 and he waited until after I said "no" to even think about it seriously.     Yes I cannot imagine having children and all I feel is relief when I see other people with theirs. I try to show adequate amounts of "awww how adorable" though.
