My diet and exercise routines have been going well, but it's been a bit more emotionally challenging. I've really been needing a boost, some affirmation that what I'm doing is working. It came today in a small victory. One of my fitness goals has been improving my abjectly horrid flexibility. I did a sit and reach test at the start of my journey, and I couldn't even reach the stick to start the scale. I sat with my feet in front of me and my back vertical against a wall, and that was as far as I could stretch without pain. Today, after my workout, I was going through the stretching routine I came up with to try and improve my flexibility and posture, while alleviating some of my soreness. I got into the straight leg, arched back, bend over and stretch position. My hands reaching out into space as always, I closed my eyes and focused on feeling a smooth, even stretch. Then I felt something graze my knuckles. I couldn't quite place it, so I opened my eyes. It was the toe of my shoes. I progressed into my classic runner's hamstring stretch, and I'll be damaged if I didn't see my foot, reach out slowly, smoothly, and grab the thing.
