Dude Reads Like a Lady

So, of course I had to open my Goodreads list and do the math. 41% of the books I've read were written by women. Not terrible. I imagine if I counted all my childhood books, Ann M. Martin would make that number skyrocket. (Though... I doubt she actually wrote them all?)

OMG I was soooo into Babysitters Club growing up. That and Animorphs would heavily distort my numbers if I tried to figure it out haha.

I think I studied at least five different female writers during my Undergrad.  Bronte, Shelley, Atwood, Woolf, and Austen, plus a few playwrights.

Okay I will try to see how many I get to without looking through my bookshelf :

- Anne Seghers - The Seventh Cross (For me a must read, first time I read it at school and many times since)

- Suzanne Collins - Hunger Games Trilogy

- Veronica Roth - Divergent trilogy

- Rachel Joyce - The unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry

- J. K Rowling of course

 

but I can't find more in my head, sounds like something that can be changed...

I personally don't pay attention to the gender of the author. If I like the title, cover and first few pages; I check it out of the library and take it home. If I want to read more by the aforementioned author, that's when I pay attention.
