Random Thoughts of Randomness

Recommended Posts

One of my apartment neighbors has a device that keeps beeping.  at a high pitch.  it's really annoying.  I'm generally happy to have acute hearing, but it can be a hassle sometimes.  Like when you work in an ancient building with a heater that roars like a jet engine.  All day long.  I wear noise canceling headphones when I can get away with it, but a significant part of my job requires me to talk on the phone, and my boss won't buy a phone headset.

24 inches of snow in my backyard; and I shoveled out a four car driveway by myself, yep feeling it today

speaking of snow it's supposed to snow a bit more over the weekend, and the kilt run is this weekend, hmmmmm if it wasn't $30 I might be tempted

This is so weird...... so my boss retired, now people are coming up to me asking me questions and are actually listening; also I almost shit my pants this morning when they said "Hey we are getting a new person and we want you to work with them on x,y,z project"( that has been stalled out for years)

so I'm going to go from not being listened to, to being a leader

not going to micro-manage; am going to set clear goals, will reward with food after big projects, will tell them when promotional tests are available, will try to have fun, will listen (sorry but having them come pick up their mail from the mail room isn't an option lol)

Gross and awesome....

Gross breaking in a new pair of shoes which gave me a little blister on my heel, was a little sore when I first started out running this morning and then it felt better; took my shoe off to a bloody sock, gross

Awesome half asleep still while starting to lift thought the machine was set for 90 pounds it was not, I had the bar up and was like why is this so heavy so I turned my head to see the weight was at 150lbs

Goal for the challenge, to see what I can max out on my bench press

So if anyone has Netflix I recommend Iron Fist, starts off a little slow but so a far I am enjoying it

Iron Fist is my favorite "super hero", and one of the few that I've actually bought and read the comics of (including the new Powerman and Iron Fist which is pretty darn good), but I've been holding off watching because I've heard it's only so-so. I might have to give it a try soon though.

I never read the comics so I'm just enjoying it, so I can't really tell you if it's faithful or not.

Really looking forward to American Gods coming out at the end of next month, so far from what I've seen of the trailers it looks amazing to the point of where I'm not going to care if they had to change a few things to make it more relevant to todays technology

It was alright, but as far as the Netflix productions go it was no Luke Cage. Maybe set your expectations low?

As for today's randomness: my cat's breath smells like cat food my feet are cold even with this space heater blasting at full strength, woe.

Embrace the cold!!! actually you probably just need to get your blood flowing, drop down and do a quick 10

I hate my new phone, you have to physically turn the wi fi on and off just to connect to the wi fi even if it's auto saved;  like say your house, and yes I have it set up to connect to established connections; plus it hates being used left handed

Wow so we have a shared work computer, a while back we were having issues with coming up with a password that we would all remember so I came up with a simple solution for it, that was 6.75 years ago.........

I was reminded of it today when I had to put in a new password and was like this can't be right, according to records it is; wow that seems like forever ago

Ha, I get that all the time because I teach teenagers. When I used to teach Romeo and Juliet, we'd watch clips from different movie versions and I'd refer to them as the new one (Baz Lurhman's version) and the old one (Franco Zefferelli's 1968 version). Then a student said, "This is the new version? What year was this even made?"  Haha, it was like 1999-2000. It was as old as the kid was.  In my mind it was still the new version.

My personal record for time spent on hold is somewhere around 50 minutes.  That was with Wells Fargo to cancel a company credit card.  I would have given up long before, but I was at work, so basically getting paid to stay on the line.  I think I did some filing and just left the speakerphone on.

Best Buy. And time warner cable. Worst customer service. Puts you on hold forever and transfers you between people who can't or won't help for probably two hours. They've both actually hung up on me multiple times though they'll say "my call got disconnected". And I'm not even an angry phone person.

Their customer service lines are my personal hell.

How ya been Guzzi

I'm doing ok, thanks Frosty.  I've been waiting to see a spinal specialist about fusing my spine and pelvis together but he's gone off on long term sick so my pelvic surgeon has offered to perform the procedure himself.  He was the one who referred me to the spinal guy in the first place because "It's a very unusual procedure and it needs to be done by a spinal specialist".  My surgeon has never done this procedure before so I would be his guinea pig.  Gulp!

I fnally got through to the technical support but they were basically no help whatsoever.  I wasted an hour of my life for fuck all.
