SevenofSeven
My friend's father took a similar path into IT, so you'll probably appreciate this story: The place he was working for had just purchased a used storage tank from a local dairy, and they wanted to clean it before use, so they were going to use what they usually did for cleaning - hydrogen peroxide. My friend's dad said, "That's not a good idea", and they said, basically, "You're the IT guy, what do you know?". So Dad just stood at the other end of the lot while they proceeded to empty a 55 gal. drum of H2O2 into the tank. As they were cleaning up the resultant mess, Dad said, "Maybe you should have remembered that you hired me as a chemist, and I'm only running IT because the rest of you were too stupid to learn to run a computer."LOL, tell 'em like it is. mightstone2k
I'm a full-time law student with a year-and-a-half done and a year-and-a-half to go. I did a bunch of odd jobs through federal work study in college and I bartered martial arts instruction for free training at my Master's dojang before I went to law school. For a rockin' twelve years; my résumé starts at twelve years old. It gives me the chuckles; no one's called me out on my age yet after looking at it. 2 Quote Battle Log Lifetime Training Goals 2017 Goals Dovie'andi se tovya sagain. CactusWren
I'm a full-time student, half way to becoming an elementary school teacher. I also volunteer at a museum and a library where I shelve and/or sell books and help with kids' programs. When I save up enough dough I want to by some land and start a permaculture farm too. Pretty flexible for being able to make time to workout atm. That will probably change when I'm actually hired though. MsFitz
I was a stay at home mom for about 8 years. The last four of which I was also an online college student. Now I am an elementary teacher! Third grade last year and second grade this year. All my own kids are finally in school and I started college just in time to student-teach when my youngest started preschool. far_away
I'm a legal assistant at a personal injury law firm. My job is to make sure the lawyers have what they need, when they need it. I spend my day composing letters, transcribing dictations, filing documents, sorting and editing clinical records. The lawyers I work for are great, but sometimes I wish I was doing more with my life. I write in my spare time, and I'm getting close to having something to submit to agents. Whee, progress! My job title is legal assistant as well though my firm doesn't specialise in personal injury law. I spend my day doing everything and anything my 5 bosses command me to do. ( = 3=)a This means drafting claims, writing opinions, shooting out letters, calling clients, attending court hearings, writing submissions, dealing with bureaucrats, compiling bundles, conducting legal research and what not have you. 2 Quote "A professional knows the limits of his knowledge. tenaciousglee
I work in the building department for a medium-sized city. I did plan review for commercial buildings for the last 5 years, but now I'm working on a special project to implement an online permitting & plan review system. Once it's up, I'll be the resident guru for all departments that deal with construction. Before working for the City, I was a structural engineer for 6 years. I workout at home in the mornings. I get up at 5 so I can be done and showered by the time my kids start waking up between 6:30 and 7.
