I vary my incline between 1 and 3 % and my speed between 2.0 and 3.0 MPH. I do a 2 minute warmup at 1.5 mph and a cooldown (time determined by the machine, was 4 mins today) at 1.8 mph. So today I spent 34 total minutes on the treadmill and did like 1.2 miles. This is my third week at the gym. In the first week I couldn't even do 1/4 mile in 15 minutes and had to get off the machine, gasping and dying. =P I am really proud of this! I know it's pretty small potatoes compared to a lotta folks but to a (formerly) totally sedentary 335lb woman it is a big deal! Maybe it's the TVs. =P (scary shades of wall-e!) I have done the mile again on Thursday but today I am focusing on body-weight exercises since I think I hurt my toe a little yesterday.
