  1. I agree to a point, but disagree to the extent that 'hard medical data' is often found to be wrong or lacking or biased by funding etc.
  2. Ah yes, I see your point about the percentage of the population with intolerance. I think it's one of those things that everybody has a differing opinion on. I've heard people say that almost everyone is gluten intolerant to some degree and, like you say, others say it's much much lower. I suppose it's about experimenting for yourself. I have a friend who suffers from IBS but refuses to try and exclude things from his diet (like gluten or dairy) to see if it makes a difference, his mother is celiac. What I did like about the video was the explanation of how the stomach can't break the protein chains down and the problems it causes when it reaches the intestine.
  3. Doctors are often overrated and the advice they give is often the product of them being at the 'people end' of sales and marketing. Some of the best advice I've had comes from non-doctors, and some of the worst advice I've had from legit doctors. I think you might be a little too fixed on the 'who' is saying this and not so much the 'what' he's saying. If a credible doc said the same thing it would be alright?
  4. I'd be pretty keen to give Yoga a try however am a total noob when it comes to any of it. What would be a good idea for a total beginner?
  5. I really love Biltong, its basically dried beef (its South African). There is a great local company that makes it without nasty additives and it's so so yum. Although it is quite salty.

    Coffee

I have a cup of black coffee with breakfast each morning, half strength though cuse I'm a bit caffeine sensitive. I love it. But I only have the one each day. If I have coffee after mid-day I feel a bit ill.
  7. Am reading The Fry Chronicles by Stephen Fry, I love it
  8. I've read it and enjoyed it, but not sure that I'd advocate for it being as good as everyone says. However I have a friend who is obsessed with it, really obsessed! He had read it six times (it's looking very worn) and puts a lot of the principles in to practice. He's a young businessman who also runs a restaurant; seems like a lot of the stuff is working for him, but really a lot of is is just common sense basics that get overlooked or over complicated when starting out in business. It's an easy and thought provoking book but putting it into practice is another thing.
  9. Currently reading The Night Circus... Awesome!
  10. I quite enjoyed that, I particularly liked the bit about how Target markets to customers.... and the bit about toothpaste and shampoo

  14. Oh I was just going to post this topic. My wife found the recipe last week, and she's on fire for these little morsels. Were even feeding them to our seven month old daughter 2 ingredients, so easy, and tasty, especially with BACON!!!
  15. MEGA-WOOT! "I feel so pumped! I have to rein myself in to not go again immediately tomorrow, I don't want to wear myself out." - Love it
  16. Yeah I reckon. I thought the story might be about them getting out and discovering others amid the wreckage of the post-apocalyptic destruction, but no. They are pretty stuck in the silo. Great book. I'm looking forward to reading Shift
  17. Hello, lovely to see you This is just a small bit of self-promotion; Iv'e started a new Blog where I plan to write. I love writing and wanted a place to explore a variety of genres and topics. It's still in the early stages though, as am I. I'll do a bit of short stories, poetry, comedy etc. I would love you to stop by and take a look, and, if you are keen, give some feedback. Click here to view: http://jasonforshort.wordpress.com/ Thanks Jason the Kiwi

  19. Oh yes good point. That was quite interesting about the officials being puppets, and the implications are very far reaching. Would be interesting if such placations exist, and if they do, would we ever know if it wasn't for someone finding out and starting an uprising... hmmm. The twists were good indeed. I'm excited to get into Shift, although I have a few book to get through first. The language really painted a vivid picture and was beautifully atmospheric. I felt the book kept the same pace throughout and almost every chapter ended with a cliff hang.
