    • Hey Rookie   Hope you have a lovely day
    • I found out yesterday that, despite what I thought, there wasn't a promotion included with this recent pay increase, which I have mixed feelings about, but if it turns out they only care about getting the work out of me and nothing is really changing, the raise will substantially shorten the amount of time I'll have to put up with things-- when my loans are paid off and I can take a huge pay cut and do what I want.   Got a late start today, didn't have time to prepare food for work, and this made it difficult to hit my 220 g protein for the day. And there was a lot of junk in place of it.   Did my first workout in quite a while tonight. In summary, I'm doing a body building style program, whole body workouts but with an upper body emphasis. Tonight I started with pushups and rows, did a lot of sets of dumbbell exercises, then finished with a few sets of squats and good mornings. This workout was a tester. I put my numbers into the app along with some feedback about how things felt, and later some AI will spit out a meso cycle to run for the next month.   I also found out, mid-workout that my microplates don't fit on my Oly-dumbbell handles, so I ordered a set of nicer handles, and an EZ curl bar, and a tricep bar. Extra bars will make supersets and weight swaps easier any how.
    • This was definitely a night of flobbling home and wishing I lived on a canal. It was a good swim. I didn't notice the time pass at all. I should be able to swim home. This would all be fine if I lived on the Thames like a proper river god.
    • AP nailed it.    Sending you such love, RES. 💜 That's so hard.
    • I love this for you. 💜

    • I made it to Zazen orientation. I’m glad I went.   Richard is lovely, and he walked me through the names and protocols, and then through the posture for sitting Zazen, and the practice of walking for a few minutes halfway through sitting. He showed me the chant we do at the end. All of this was nice, and then we had a few minutes before the official start time and he showed me some of the books on the Zendo shelf. There are a couple he recommended that are interesting to me, and he said they might start book club back up on Tuesday evenings this fall.    No one else showed up for the evening sit, so it was just the two of us, and that felt nice, as though the Universe was giving me space to work out the rust that has built up. I found myself during first sit having to adjust to accommodate my left leg falling asleep, and then at one point I was simply there, sitting, and all was right with the world. My leg was asleep when we stood to walk, but it woke up easily. I switched my position around a bit for second sit and it was better, but I definitely need to work on loosening my hips so that my knee doesn’t tighten and take all the weight of the sit.   The schedule has changed and they no longer sit on Thursday evenings, only Tuesday and Wednesday and Saturday mornings. I’ve adjusted my calendar accordingly. There’s something here worth exploring, and I’m looking forward to it.    After sitting I picked up milk and got gas. This is the fourth time I’ve put gas in the car since picking her up in February, and the first two times were from road trips. This is good. I like being independent and mobile, and I also like knowing that I’m not belching out fumes that are choking the planet. This is do-able.   The Zendo is 8 blocks away, about a 15 minute walk.  If the weather is nice tomorrow evening, I might walk, mostly because I wanted to walk home after the sit this evening.  This is the Way.
    • That's a fantastic question, and a big part of why things would be messy if they gave me an offer. It's fairly likely I would be local-ish (but on the other side of the metro area from where I am now), but the req also included Colorado (Denver area) and LA as possibilities. So, I'm probably looking at another move wherever they would want me, because it's probably a hellish commute from my current location even with the "local" location, but it's still very much a question of how far of a move it would be. And we would also have to consider if they will compensate me for having to pay back my current company for the relocation or if I'd have to pay that out of pocket, which I'm not sure I can do. So, yeah, lots of things to consider if it gets to that point, before we even start thinking about having told the boys we weren't moving anymore for a long time...
