  1. I just bought myself a new shorter belt. The old belt, which I had just bought about 5 months ago, felt like there was about 8 feet of belt sticking out because I worked my way to the last hole. It's a good feeling.
  2. Well done! I used to say that I forgot how to run. Now I can knock off a 5k in about 24 minutes. It is possible so keep at it!
  3. After 33 weeks of turning over a new leaf, I am now 50 pounds lighter. I started at a little under 240 and am now at 187. I went from 38 inch pants down to 34 inch pants. XXL shirts down to a medium (depending on how its made). I still have some old clothes laying around and they look funny on me. I thought about taking some pictures just to show. I'm in training to compete in what will be my first triathlon ever (at the ripe old age of 40). It's just a sprint triathlon. I'm not diving into an Ironman or anything. Thanks for reading.
  4. I was thinking he now has the right to pee outside on his own property. Although this would not be a great way to say goodbye to friends. I'd wait until after they leave. And only at night.
  5. I got tired of being a fat ass with a bad back.
  6. The original Looney Tunes cartoons. Back when dropping an anvil on Wile E. Coyote and Elmer Fudd shooting off Daffy Duck's bill wasn't considered to violent.
  7. Oh yeah! with the tall guy that could shrink down, the guy who could shoot electricity, the telekinetic girl. I remember that one. BJ and the Bear
  8. Knight Rider Who didn't want an invincible talking car?
  9. I just got me a brand new Trek 1.1 road bike! I'm pretty excited about it. I have it sitting in the living room right now so I can look at it. Sad thing though is we're supposed to get a snow/ice storm tomorrow so no riding it yet. Plus I have to pick up a few things too, like a helmet. I have to take it back next weekend to get it fitted to me. I got to the store a half hour before closing so there wasn't any time today. I was also a little shocked that my wife said it was ok to get. I thought for sure she would have thoroughly disapproved of the idea. I'm slowly getting things dialed in for sprint triathlon training. This year will be my first time ever. My home town race is June 5th and I'm giving myself 12 weeks to train for it and that starts on March 12th. Did I mention I'm excited?

  11. I refer to it as the 40 pounds of sand I'm not carrying around any more. On one hand, I think the triathlon will be very difficult but on the other hand, I just lost 40 pounds. How hard can it be? I'm excited.
  12. Well, since you asked: When I first decided to lose weight, I used a BMI calculator and it said that 180 pounds for me was normal. I didn't know how the BMI calculator worked. It was all new to me so I thought I needed to lose 60 pounds. Now I know that isn't an exact science so I'm not so worried about losing another 20. Now I just want to burn off the last bit of belly fat I have so I can have a ripped 40 year old beach body. I'll still be lifting weights so I know my overall weight might not change to much due to muscle increase. At least I hope there will be muscle increase and still fat loss. Another one of my original goals was to bench press my weight. I should see if I can bench 200 pounds now. Also, starting in March, I will be doing triathlon training. I don't want to just be the fittest guy watching TV. I want to do something with my new found abilities. I'm working on my training schedule now.
  13. I finally hit the 40 pounds lost mark. It took a while. My weight loss really slowed down this past few weeks but I kept at it and have now hit one of my original goals. Lose 40 pounds and weigh less than 200 pounds. 197 to be exact. Thanks for reading.
  14. I just back from the doctor's office. Last week I had my cholesterol checked and the results are in. Last July I had it checked and here are those results first: Triglycerides - 178 (highlighted as to high) Cholesterol - 147 (in range) LDL Cholesterol - 78 (in range) VLDL Cholesterol - 36 (highlighted as to high) HDL Cholesterol - 33 (highlighted as to low) Here are the results from last week. Triglycerides - 46 (down 74%, no longer highlighted) Cholesterol - 120 (down 18%) LDL Cholesterol - 74 (down 5%) VLDL Cholesterol - 9 (down 75%, no longer highlighted) HDL Cholesterol - 37 (up 12% but still highlighted as to low) This is what happens when you eat right, exercise, and lose about 40 pounds. Thanks for reading.
  15. Not a whole lot. Before when we went to a park I just sat at the picnic table eating most of the time. Now that I'm in better shape, it's time to get up and see what's out there.
  16. Well done. That is something I want to do more of this summer, go hiking and camping through different state parks.
  17. I've been giving myself woot's for every 10 pounds I lose and today I hit the 30 pounds lost mark. All of the new, smaller pants that I bought are now a little baggy. I had to buy some new belts. I had a belt but you know how you use the same hole all the time and it wears in there, if I used that hole, the belt was hanging loose. If I went to the next hole, it just didn't look right. I had to take a link out of my watch band because it was so loose on my wrist now. My daughter was actually impressed because I can suck my gut in and flex and you can start to see the ab muscles come through. Although there is still quite a bit of flab keeping them covered. I got a little ways to go yet. Thanks for reading. Cya at 40.
  18. I saw in Steve's Epic Quest that he wanted to play in the World Series of Poker. I would like to do that myself and I got to wondering if there were any other poker players here. I myself am just a recreational player. I play a little bit online, play some home games, will go play in a casino every once in a while, and play at lunch time with some friends too. This last June I went on a guy's trip to Vegas where we played in a few tournaments and went to the Rio to spectate at the WSOP. Anybody else?
