I got Cities: Skylines this week. Very much enjoying it after the sack of balls that was the last Sim City. It's not too challenging at the moment, which is quite nice for someone like me who likes to play games to relax for an hour or so. I've already accidentally managed to poison a bunch of my citizens with sewage in the drinking water. Oops.

I'm really interested to see what the mod community (the computer type of game modifications, not the guys in sharp suits with mopeds) come up with for addons. It's apparently built with mod friendlyness in mind, which is fantastic.

Yeah, it's not bad, probably wouldn't have paid for it though. The storyline's pretty bland but the gameplay's pretty good, similar to Assassin's Creed in places.

I second that, except for me the gameplay more than makes up for the crappy story, so I didn't mind paying actual money for it ($10 on the PS3). Actually, I think the story is fine the characters and the voice acting are horrendous though.

The shooty parts are great.  It has climby bits that are identical to Uncharted, and the few actual tombs are cool, too.

I picked up a new tablet and was flipping through the play store.. I keep hearing how mobile gaming is the wave of the future but I just don't see it. The majority of the mobile games seem to be mostly blatant rip offs of each other, or barely engaging. How many angry bird/temple run/candy crush rip offs can these companies crank out?

It reminds me of the Facebook heyday when companies starting churning out farmville/mafia wars clones.

Most are rip offs, the originals tend to be ok to good though. Look into Clash of Clans, we've got an NF clan on there that's really active.

I just finished Bioshock Infinite, I know, it's been out a while, but I wasn't overly impressed with Bioshock, I thought it tried too hard to mimic survival horror, but it was the most recent 'free with gold' game so I gave it a go. The gameplay was a little monotonous and the revival respawn mechanism made it a little easy. Still, the story was brilliant, the skyhook parts were fun, and it was a great example for all games as to how escort missions should be done.

Just finished Last of Us. Feeling really conflicted about the way it ended. Started on Left Behind, loving it so far. Ellie has such natural movement, such an authentic attitude, and I love the interactions with her friend.

After that, I think I'll finally start up Black Flags.

I have a 4 week "break" starting soon so I decided to order a bunch of old playstation games off amazon, increase my collection (I use quotation marks for break because I have 2 assignments due in at the end and a lot of studying planned, unlike a lot of people I know). I sadly didn't keep any of the games I had when I was a wee lad due to younger relatives, that'll teach me not to give stuff to kids, so about 2 years ago I bought a PS2 and some games (Jak and Daxter 1-3, spyro 1-3, crash bandicoot, and ratchet and clank which sadly crashed about two thirds through the game).

Anyway, Rayman arrived today, which should help repress any memory of the Raving Rabbits series, provided I scrub my brain with a curling iron enough. Also on the way is Ratchet and Clank 1-3 (hopefully functioning copies), Micro Machines V4, Bomberman (not in any way like the Xbox arcade abortion) and Jak X. I know Jak X isn't the classic that is Jak and Daxter or Jak 2 (and to a much lesser extent Jak 3), but i figure I should have the whole series, excluding The Lost Frontier which even Sony tried to pretend didn't exist when they redid the games for PS3.

Pray tell, what do you get a free game per month on?  o_O

Absolutely fantastic game.  It was the first Assassin's Creed game I tried, and I'm actually a little scared to try any other ones since I hear they're all worse than AC:IV.   However, the Honest Game Trailer (SPOILER ALERT!!!) for AC:IV is hilarious.  Also, possibly NSFW??  If you work with a bunch of prudes.  Or people that don't like pirates.

EDIT: I should probably say what I'm currently playing.  I play WoW too much, and I'm anxiously awaiting more awesomeness from Star Citizen, which is easily the most visually stunning game I've seen.

Been playing a bit of King of Dragon Pass on the Android.  It is an underrated game that mixes city management with choose-your-own-adventure gameplay.  Very unique.  It was originally a 90's computer game and now on phones.

Haha.  Yea I spend way too much time watching those Honest Trailers.  But they're just so damn funny!!

I actually had to build my PC for Star Citizen.  And I'll probably want to upgrade it before the game even fully releases.  lol.  But so far it really is just a fantastic game.  And it's not even in Alpha testing yet!!

Skyrim just dragged me back in.

I loved that game, but it was so addictive. I was deleting some old "Save Game" data the other day and I saw that I invested over 200 hours into that game.
