    • Sal, you're totally rocking the look, nothing "poser" about it... 😍
    • In terms of population/distance, possibly, but it might be kind of complicated.   York is a regional capital of major historical significance back to Roman and Viking times, and has been an economic powerhouse most of that time, while Sheffield is essentially part of the Rust Belt of the UK. York narrowly missed being a UN world heritage site but and regularly tops lists of the best cities in Europe and best cities to live in the UK; Sheffield is a washed-up former steel town recovering from decades of economic slide, and even in its heydey it was known for brutal gang violence and poor conditions for the working class. George Orwell called it the ugliest town in the old world for its endless shoddy working class housing. It's the dark satanic mills of William Blake's Jerusalem, while York is cathedrals and medieval buildings and Victorian industry at its most pro-worker; it was home to at least one of the Quaker-run chocolate companies that all pushed for major improvements in labor conditions and laws. Sheffield has 400% more population than York, but only 130% larger economy. (To be fair to Sheffield, I believe it is a perfectly cromulent city that's getting by very well, thank you, and is doing pretty at rebuilding economically and culturally. But reputationally, it's pure rust belt decline and gray drab industrialism start to finish being compared to one of the great classical cities of Europe.)   So moving from York to Sheffield for more choices of things is not entirely a slam dunk. Not impossible; size can do a lot in some areas. But you don't generally move from York to Sheffield for improved quality of life. You might do it for a better salary pushing TPS reports around a larger IT office. And it's probably not as bleak as its reputation; Northern industrial towns get a bad rap in general these days. It's not all deserved, and there are historical reasons for the parts that were.
    • Sorry you didnt get the job.    My brother is also incredibly bad at this, but it can be taught. If youve got any friends that are good at it getting them to talk you through the process helps a lot. I think you can also take courses on it. Maybe there is a free online one
    • Errr 😅 i have no idea?? that combo makes me think your moving from a resonably affluent smaller town to an large very industrial one (Sheffield is famous for steel works). Both are massive  by  my standards so it may be me
    • If they’re in your garden then theres a chance they are spanish bluebells. British bluebells have more intense blue flowers, narrower bells and little curls on the flowers corners (not right word but i am too tired to google for botanical nomenclature right now). Spanish bluebells can be very spready (at least in the uk) so its worth keeping an eye on them, unless your ok with an entire beds worth.
    • The amount of options, and the variety, is a very good problem to have. Enjoy the comparison shopping!
