I'm so sleepy today.   I stayed up a tad later than I have been aiming for, which would have been fine had I not also woken before dawn for no reason whatsoever and had existential internal arguments until I gave up on sleep.

The upside of early rising is that I got Reclaiming Your Wings, Fashion for Nevers, and Portraiture done early.  As long as I eat a sensible dinner (and track it), I am golden for the day.

In addition to my standard shoulder wings therapy, I tacked on a few extra exercises:  Morning stretches

Bent over dumbell fly (because I was so weak at those yesterday in PT)

Inclined press (same)

Calf raises for ankle stability

One-leg Romanian Deadlift with a featherweight, ostensibly for glutes but my balance is awful rn so need to work on that first

Side note:  PT has been going so well that the physio agreed I don't really need to come in on a regular basis any more, so yay recovery!  Definitely going to keep up the supplementary training, though.

For Fashion, I tried out a new updo that turned out to be simple and flattering, so that was a nice find.  I'm wearing the bright lip gloss again with chunky stud earrings (just the one pair) and feel rather classic today.

Excellent news! But yes, do keep up with the exercises.

Honestly, even the sterling ones irritate my ears sometimes, although that may be more due to the fact that I wear any earrings so irregularly that I have to reopen the piercings half the time when I finally want them in.

This was me and now they're fully closed...

I am now mumble mumble years old, and I am finally admitting that for the the supplemental exercises are as much or more important to my overall well-being as the big shiny ones.  I'm so done with being broken.

It's not that bad to count when you make a sandwich.  It's when you make chili and have to do advanced calculus to determine what a serving size even is --much less how many  calories are in it -- that's a headache.

Managed by a small margin to pay magic's price at dinner.  I've been exhausted all evening, though: too tired to game, to tired to even read.  Fortunately, AMC's A Discovery of Witches just dropped on Netflix.  It's nerdy and moody and atmospheric and just what the doctor ordered.

Having an idea of how many calories you eat is "good enough", imo. Weighing everything to the gram to be able to pinpoint the exact number of calories is a) too much work, 2) still not accurate and d) the fasttrack to diet fatigue, not in a small part because of a). ?

If they are through the cartilage then yes, those suckers can seal over incredibly fast with nothing in them. So annoying.
Getting some titanium labrettes and just leaving them in might be worth trying. The metal is hypoallergenic and getting either push pin or internally threaded labrettes means you can just leave them in easily without worrying about snagging them.

They aren't meant to be, it's just a triple lobe piercing.  However, I suspect they may have nicked the cartilage a little, especially on the left side.

Yeah, some flatbacked earrings would be really nice and titanium wouldn't get bent like the earrings I tried sleeping in did.  Definitely worth looking into, thanks!

Kind of a rough day today, or at least a rough morning.  Many of you may remember that I got big points last challenge for scheduling a routine cancer screening and that I was a little apprehensive when they warned me that first timers are often called back for more testing.  Well, of course I got called back.  I managed to keep my head in the sand and ignore the impending new appointment pretty well until this morning when it came due.  I had been so tired last night I didn't really prepare for having to leave within 45 minutes of waking.  I ended up skipping morning stretches and threw together a last minute outfit that was more about comfort (and efficency) than villain points.  I knew I wanted my black leggings, because they are the most comfortable, but I didn't think through that the only warm weather tops I have to wear with leggings are all either black or charcoal gray.  So I ended up in black leggings, a black and white floral blouse, black strappy sandals, black stud earrings and a ponytail with a black hair tie.   I was basically dressed for my own funeral.  At least all black is properly villainous, if a little obvious.

At the appointment,  I was increasingly certain they had found something awful.  I could see a huge black mass on the ultrasound and the nurses kept whispering.  In the end, however, my fears were unfounded as the radiologist determined it was (another) benign cyst and no further testing was needed.  A few tears may have been shed throughout the process and I felt a little raw coming home after my brush with mortality.

I didn't feel like doing much, but I didn't want to fall off track in zero week, so I painted my nails (with the blood of my enemies, natch), did my shoulder therapy, tracked what I ate, and did 10 minutes of uninspired art.

They were very naughty, but I am grateful that the radiologist at least had the courtesy to read the results while I was still there this time.  I wasn't left to stew in morbid conjecture for 7-10 business days.

sorry you had a crud time at the doctors. I hate it when they keep you waiting there for results without giving you any sort of feedback. Worse than actually telling you things in my opinion.

ps. Epic wardrobe choice, very villain appropriate.

It really is.  I think they were trying to downplay it because so many times it's a false alarm like mine, but I think that leaves too much room for the imagination.   And I have a terribly good imagination.

Thank you.  I do feel better this morning.  I'm so glad not to have to deal with it again until next year.

Thank you.  I think I am feeling extra villainous today (or maybe just extra).  I dressed in a voluminous black damask skirt with a drape-necked top that shows off my blood ruby necklace to perfection.  Major evil queen vibes.

I've spent most of the weekend on a big research project due for Sophie of Gavaldon: identifying my personal style and color palette.  I have learned that 1) I am very boring (or conservative, if I am being kind) and 2) my ideal style is apparently comfy meets military meets dark academia, however dafaq that works.  I think I have realized that I don't love any one style enough to dress that way exclusively, and that's okay.  Ideally, I need to look for crossover pieces that can lean either way (like a black turtleneck or a khaki trenchcoat) so I can mix and match efficiently with other more distinctive pieces.

I am becoming obsessed with this color palette from the opening scenes of A Discovery of Witches

adow_101_rv_290917_1009-2000-845dda42d7354f32bd1b9aed7efd92f9.jpg.72cdc960c15bdba65d8a63f72b5e8586.jpgA-Discovery-Of-Witches-Diana-Bishop-Long-Coat.jpg.178e416fb211ad49f7971429a202c821.jpg

I love the golds and the greys and the pop of teal.  Definitely more of a dark academia look here.  I love these colors so much, I ditched my current project for Dorian Gray in favor of another one in this color range.

Between all the OT spent on Fashion and Portraiture, I am falling behind on my other classes a bit.  I turned in yesterday's Wings assignment at the very last minute and never paid the Price for Magic at all.  Need to get back on track there or I won't fit into my Fashion choices ?

Gorgeous palette! But I tried watching the show and couldn't get past the first few episodes... The characters felt extremely flat and nobody was hot enough to warrant watching anyways. ?

I have to agree the aesthetic is the biggest selling point.  If I didn't love that and hadn't read the books, I wouldn't pursue the show.  The acting is meh and the special effects laughable.  The cinematography is gorgeous and I find the breathy, hushed tones soothing, so it's what I need in the moment.

No justification necessary, sometimes that's exactly what's needed! I'm a sucker for terrible dance movies myself. ?

Are the books any good?

That is a great colour palette. All those different browns with teal, dark gold, a hint of washed put blue and some black and white would make a great wardrobe palette
