Bunk
I am curious what apps, websites, downloads etc people use often. Hoping to come across some diamonds in the rough that I didn't know about. I am also interested in other intelligent fitness blogs and/or podcasts. My most used are: 5/3/1 spreadsheet. I've used a few, like this one the best.https://rapidshare.com/#!download%7C153p8%7C3808521698%7C531%20v2.1.xls%7C378%7C0%7C0 www.fitday.com for nutrient tracking http://www.mobilitywod.com/ for all things mobility related http://www.1percentedge.com/ifcalc/ intermittent fasting calculator Cardiotrainer app to record my bike rideshttps://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wsl.CardioTrainer&hl=en And the blogs I read often for fitness news areNF (of course!)http://www.t-nation.com/http://robertsontrainingsystems.com/www.greatist.com www.marksdailyapple.com and The Paleo Solution podcast on www.robbwolf.com Link to comment
Evicious
I enjoy Ross Enamait's blog site, rosstraining.com, especially some of his articles under the "Inspirational" and "Rants" categories (righthand sidebar on the homepage). I've done a lot of his workouts from his book Infinite Intensity when I was in Afghanistan, thanks to a challenge from a jump-roping contractor I thought I could beat.... come to think of it, I really should buy it for myself to get back into it.... that contractor could definitely kick my ass again these days! Anyway, I think the Monks, Assassins, and Warriors guilds would find a lot of his workouts are good templates for their goals, but he has an extremely practical mindset for everything fitness related. There are also lots of good ideas for building your own workout equipment and home gym stuff. As for apps, I have the Fitness Pal for my Android phone (they have apps for iPhone, Blackberry, and Windows as well). There's a website for those who prefer to log their stats on a computer. The app allows you to track your calories (breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks) by either searching the app for the food you're eating or by scanning the barcode of packages. If the app can't read the barcode, or the item you're looking for isn't in the database, it will allow you to manually input the item's name and information and save it for you; for example, I'm a regular consumer of MREs and I can input the information off the individual item boxes so I'm still accurately tracking how many calories I've eaten, even when I'm in the field. It also allows you to track your water intake, as well as any exercise you performed. However, I haven't been all that impressed with the exercise recording option, as their database isn't very extensive. It will, like the calorie tracking function, allow you to manually enter that information but it won't be able to tell you the caloric value of them (push-ups and sit-ups are one example). Still, it's great for people like myself who like to track every stat they can think to assign themselves. Edited to add: Calorie King is a great website if you're looking for super-detailed and accurate information about the calorie and nutrient content in.... well, pretty much anything considered food! shortstuff
I know it's not really a fitness tool but I use my Iphone becuase it's a mp3/note pad/stop watch rolled into one thing. I also use Zombies, Run!, an app for my phone. I never use to track my runs/walks but Zombies, Run! is really fun to listen to. Siferiax
I mostly use my own home made Excel sheets to track things, whichever I like. As shortstuff I use Zombies, Run! And eh... well the clock app on my iPhone. I put fitness tasks in Doit.im on my iPhone. I have the app 30/30 but I haven't really used it recently. Otherwise things I find in the forums. Nothing much else really. Tanktimus the Encourager
i use LoseIt!, although I often go on other tracking websites to find out how many calories certain foods have. I've been on loseit so long I don't want to lose all the data I've amassed, but there are a lot of good programs out there. LessJos
I am trying some apps on the iphone to track new habits. So far I tried good habits (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/good-habits/id573844300?mt=8) and lift (https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/lift/id530911645?mt=8). good habits is your stuff only and very quick to handlelift is more clicking but has a community where you can give props and comment. I like both but really would like to have an app that I can tap more than once a day per habit (for GTG or to count glasses of water etc). Both apps only go for one achievement a day. A work around is to add different habits like "morning push up, "evening push up", "1st glass", 2nd glass" etc. but it adds up. And it's not perfect for GTG if you go for as many sets as you can fit into the day. I just saw fig (https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/fig-your-personal-wellness/id554305571?mt=8) and am wondering if it can do that. Did anybody try that one yet? Any other apps I should try? pre-AssassinClear eyes, full heart, can't lose!Twitter Link to comment
