Bearman
Hello all! My story is rather cliche honestly. I was, once upon a time, a rather fit individual. Not so much anymore, although that is changing and has been since June 2013. I am 5'9" and my highest "confirmed" weight has been 217lbs with over 30% body fat in January 2013. I would guess that at one time I was closer to 230-240 but avoided scales like the plague. I have finally got my diet under control thanks to meeting with a nutritionist and getting a diet prescribed. I am changing the diet to reflect a more 80/20 paleo, but it really isn't much of departure from what the nutritionist gave me. I am currently using a 7 day a week routine: Sunday: Run 3.5 miles. Have increased from over 10 mins a mile to low 8 mins a mile. Monday: 150 sit squats, 100 pushups, 100 jam balls (25lb), 100 dips, 150 crunches, 3 minutes of intense cardio, 45mins-60mins break then Tae Kwon Do for 1.5 hours. Tuesday: 3 minutes of each of the following, jump squats, pullups (still doing assisted but getting better), walking lunges, bicep curls, situps, cardio. Wednesday: Run around 3.5miles. Home TKD practice. Thursday: TRX class. Friday: With little to no break between sets: 3x30squats, 3 mins of cardio, 3x20 pushups, 3 mins of cardio, 3x30 side lunges, 3 mins of cardio, 3x20 inverted row, 3 mins of cardio, 3x15 back extensions, 3 mins of cardio. 45mins to 60 mins break. 1.5 hours of TKD class. Saturday: Shinsei Hapkido 45 mins, TKD 45 mins. Rest the rest of the day. I have been using this routine since late June. I have added reps on a couple things to reflect increased strength and conditioning, but this has been my outline. I weighed in yesterday (10/10) at 185lbs. Not sure what my body fat % is but will get it checked in about 2wks. I have also added Spanish languages lessons on Tuesday and Thursday, and I do hold a full time job. Who needs sleep right? I joined this website in an attempt to avoid the "Oh man look at me, I can go back to eatingand doing whatever I want." It is one thing to change physical appearance and body comp for a short time, it is another to change one's life so completely that the old sloth does not return. That is what I seek. Rooks
Wow! That's quite the routine. Do you worry about overtraining at all? Do you feel like your body recovers enough with all that work? Quote Link to comment

Bearman
Wow! That's quite the routine. Do you worry about overtraining at all? Do you feel like your body recovers enough with all that work? For the first 2-3 wks, I was really concerned I was overtraining. I was really cranky and tired, ended up having a couple migraines, although those may have been from the weather coupled with the exhaustion not sure. But I took a couple days off to rest, made sure I was getting all of my prescribed calories/proteins/etc, and started feeling much better. Now, if I get to feeling that my body isn't resting enough, i just take a day or two off and rest it up. But for the most part, I feel good and strong. Although I'm curious how the addition of martial arts is going to impact that. I was in TKD for a couple years until my school closed, and took about a year off. Been doing it for about 3 weeks now. Feels good, except for I tweeked my knee during sparring last night. But that stuff happens and don't think it's anything serious.
