Daily Dares PvP Sept 18-Oct 22

Shoulder taps, with EC

Hook kicks, with EC, didn't even try going for EEC. I did not feel like falling on my face. Or any other part of me.

 

And then today... Archer push-ups? What is this even? I modified the hell out of them. (i.e. I did wall Archer push-ups).

Yeah, I definitely needed the video for the kicks. Well, multiple videos, because I couldn't figure out at first how the hook kick was different from the side kick.

Realised that i haven't actually updated my progress recently. 

 

For the hook kick, its basically a side kick but with a bend in the knee, so you're 'hooking' your leg around. I fully extended the leg, then pulled back with my ankle to form the hook. Managed with EC but no EEC.

 

Archer push ups are normal push ups but with one arm away - like you are drawing a bow on the ground. Then with each push you move the other side, so the other arm is extended. I did it on my knees, but managed an EC. 

 

EDIT : I realised that I've now surpassed Silver! I'm doing so much better at this than I thought I would. I'm going to try and shoot for gold.

I can barely do normal knee push-ups. With one arm? Didn't happen.

I'm back in this! Archer push-ups done, no EC (3 sets of 4). Feels like these things are on the progression to one-arm push-ups, which is kind of cool!

Arm things and side planks both done with EC.

I really need to work on my core in the future, it's my biggest weak spot.

The arm things look like a variation on the superman arm lift things.

Good to see you back, and congrats on getting through the Archers...you are right, they definitely show up in one-arm progressions.

 

I've been kind of down with a cold most of the week, but slogged through most of the dares.

W: Shoulder touches with EC

TH Hook kicks with EC...didn't see the EEC until just now, so didn't even try it.

F: Didn't even try the archer pushups. Meant to scale, but got busy.

Sa: Prone fly extensions (i.e. flappy things) with EC

Su: Star planks with EC.

It's more fun doing these with you guys! it's encouraging that we are all just trying the best we can.

Swivel chair is "modified extra credit" :-)

Seems like some of the problem for me is strength, but more of it is flexibility.

These look really interesting! I shall be trying this out soon.

 

Managed the pike push ups with no EC, that was exhausting, and really weird feeling all the blood rush to the head.

Well, the incline ones (that I did too many of) didn't bother my wrists at all actually. Probably because there wasn't as much weight on them. It was doing a single regular pike push-up that hurt. Though to be fair a regular standard push-up will also hurt my wrists sometimes.

Holy cow! That was a rare absolute maximum effort DD for me. Lots of them are easy enough. Some of them are so ridiculously impossible that it's hard to figure out the right challenging modification. This one was just barely do-able for me. It took 3 tries...15, then 11, then a long rest and finally 20!
