The pay isn't much, but I didn't want to get paid (he insisted). In the past 6 years, he has become like a father to me. He once called me a good man on a day when I really needed to hear it. Today, he said "I love you and your family, and I want you to be a part of my life for the rest of my life." It shows you what a wonderful person you are that you are going to be helping him and his wife now. Not everyone is lucky enough to have family close by, so the fact that he has asked you to be his chosen family is amazing. Being from a place where I am not fond of most of my blood family, I can tell you that chosen family usually means more than blood ever will. Those are the people that stand by you because they want to, not because they have to. To me, this a huge thing.
