leg raises done with ec and swearing.

Current Big Fat Hairy Goals:  Hip to Waist Ratio down to 88%.  Capable of 50 pushups, 100 situps, 20 pull-ups in one massive superset.  Able to do a bodyweight bench press.  Run 10K 1/week for 1 month.  Earn 2nd Degree Black Belt.

 

Why?  Because I want to model the kind of health and strength that I want my girls to have when they grow up.

Squat hops done with EC. Doing them was fine, it was getting up after that hurt!

Single leg push-ups done with EC. I was dreading these, but actually I didn't find them appreciably harder than normal push-ups :)

I didn't try the squat hops (having some back problems and that seemed like an awkward move to me).

 

I didn't try the one-legged pushups either....but I did my own "Xena scaled version" (not counting on the spreadsheet of course). 20 regular pushups and then some one-legged plank holds during which I did some "mini pushups" (not full range of motion). I probably should have tried some one-legged pushups before I got tired.

 

Today did the side leg raises (no EC)...pumped out 50 on the first side but then had to stop a lot on the other side. Wasn't pretty, but I'll take it.

Yeah the side leg raises work both sides, so I was really feeling it from about 10 in on the second leg.  pushed through for ec.

 

I've said it before.  The daily dares are great because it exposes all our weaknesses.  you're only competing against yourself and the target you set, and hopefully you'll find some new motions to add into your regular routine.

Heel taps with EC. Finally an easy one :-)

 

@RocketbikeNinja  you are completely right. This is a really fun idea, and it's cool to try different things. I've been thinking that in a way, the Daily Dares are kind of like regular life. When you have to do something physically hard (like move around a bunch of dirt in the garden, or shovel show or whatever), it's often not something your specifically built up to and trained for. You just have to rely on whatever strength and skill you have from the training you have done. Kind of cool.

Heel taps done with EC.  Possibly more than EC - I did 50 per side, or 100 total.  I think, upon rereading that only 50 total (or 25 per side) are required, but that's okay.  I like oblique exercises anyway...

I really dropped the ball on these this weekend; was in full festival mode and in no state to do much exercise (or even really get online to look up the dares!). Will make sure I get back on it today with the climbers.

No strange looks - we do lots of climbers there.  Didn't exactly blend in, as it was a self-directed black belt class, so we were all doing our own thing, and no one joined in :(  that said, when this came up last time, about 2 months ago, someone else did!  But not for as many...

Honestly have to give myself a miss on these. I tried them (did 50 "of something" in a row), but wasn't nearly as close to the ground as in the picture. I shifted around and tried some variations but still wasn't quite right. After I rested, I did a few with full range of motion, but couldn't really stay all the way down unless I used my hands for balance. Think my legs are too shot to really push through these.

 

So "Xena points" only today (which don't go on the spreadsheet).

 

Looking forward to trying the shoulder taps tomorrow. Know I can do them, but no idea how many I can do in a row. Will be interesting.

Shoulder taps done with EC. It would seems like alternating would make more sense than 50 right followed by 50 left, but what do I know!

Shoulder taps done with EC.  I agree - alternating shoulders would be much tougher.

I think alternating shoulders would have been a ton better! Shoulder taps done but no EC. Got to 33 on the first side before I needed to take a break. Think I could have done it (or a lot closer) after a couple tries. Wasn't sure how much to switch my weight fully back between reps. Played around with it a bit, but don't think I figured out the best approach.

 

Added 7/28 T-jumps done with EC (133 jumps in 2 min).
