GrandpaHemlock
Hi! I signed up for this program in 2015, I posted a few messages, I looked at the website, did a challenge or two and promptly gave up. I posted a message asking for help in the Facebook group and didn't get a single response and got really frustrated. I already paid the money, so I might as well try again. I'm really confused as to what to do with the Academy and workouts and nutrition and all that stuff. If anyone wants to volunteer to be my babysitter and hold my hand through the first steps, I'd really appreciate it! A little about me: I'm a musician, artist, vegetarian, I live in Wisconsin, I'm gay and married, I love video games and board games. I moved here from Chicago 3 years ago and haven't really made any friends yet, so loneliness/depression is a huge contributing factor to my compulsive eating. I really enjoy making people laugh and I enjoy a good heart-to-heart conversation. Here's a picture of me in 3 years, hanging out with my besties and feeling good about myself. 1 Quote Link to comment
Jonesy
Hello GrandpaHemlock and welcome! I'm not sure how much I can help with the academy, it's been almost a year since I cancelled mine, but I'm sure someone here can help you. From my experience with NFA, going slow was the best if you are a newbie. If you have not been working on it at all, I would say reset yourself and start from the very beginning and be patient. Work on the nutrition first but challenge yourself to do something active everyday. The forums have a challenge starting this Sunday, so it might be a perfect time for you to create a beginners challenge. If you are not sure about the challenge, check out Spezzy's Walk through for doing your first challenge. Sometimes starting the whole freaking journey all over again helps. As for staying active and motivated, that's something you need to figure out. It's hard and frustrating but once you find what works it gets easier. Also if you find challenges stressful, create a battle log that is like a longer challenge. If you have questions, need some help or not sure what to do, don't hesitate to ask! Again welcome to the rebellion. 1 Quote GoodReads MyFitnessPal Spoiler Previous Challenges: 2020: 1.20 - 2019: 1.19 l 2.19 2018: 1.18 l 2.18 l 3.18 l 4.18 l 5.18 l 6.18 l 7.18 2017: 1.17 I 2.17 I 3.17 I 4.17 I 5.17 l 6.17 l 7.17 l 8.17 I 9.17 l 10.17 2016: 1.16 l 2.16 l DA v.1 l DA v.2 I DA v.2 Reloaded I DA v.3 I DA v.4 I 8.16 I 9.16 I DA v.5 I 11.16 2012: 1 2013: 2 l 3 l 4 l 5 l 6 l 7 l 8 2014: 9 l 10 l Not Done Yet l Time to Conquer l Conquering HFC for Life! I had already been part of the forum/rebel community for a few years before academy came out and had already purchased the super old PDF Rebel Guide and didn't see a huge difference. After a while it felt like I had only purchased NFA for the FB group and the group was more about complaining about things and less about encouraging, asking questions and or advice. NFA is a great source for someone who is just starting out. It can be overwhelming though if you try to do too much too soon.
