June 17th - September 2nd, 2024: Weight Loss PVP: 10 or 12 lbs in 10 or 12 Weeks

213.4 this morning, up from the beginning of the PVP but down from last week.  I'm trying to get back in the saddle and should be able to string consecutive losses through the end.

I was just thinking about you - How is everything DFG?

If it's not siesta or fiesta, I'm not interested.

Fudging my weigh in days a little because today's weigh in seemed higher than the others this week so I'm sure it's a mishap.  Last week's weigh in was on Tuesday since I was out of town Monday.  I finally broke through the 250's just prior to our big move and am happy to report that I stayed under for the duration of moving week.  Even today's actual weigh in was still just under the 250 mark.

I'm doing well. I signed up for an additional 2 months with Coach to get me through vacation in October (we return from vacation Oct 11th and I'll have her now through the 22nd with possibility to extend).

We are also starting a 4 week challenge later this week. I was feeling good until I got a notice I'll be traveling the week of Aug 12th. Ugh. Travel always makes meeting my macros hard and that's a key part of the challenge. At least I should be able to squeeze in the gym, even if I have to wake up stupid early (and I already wake up at 430am) to get in the gym and get ready in time. I suppose I could also do an evening workout but I'd rather knock it out early. Especially since I'm sure we'll do dinner together. I'll figure it out one way or another. Either way, I'll still be making progress because I'm determined to not allow myself a free-for-all just because I'm traveling. I was successful my last trip under Coach's guidance and I was only a few weeks into working with her at that time. Now I've learned a lot more and I feel more confident in making the swaps needed to make things work.

Here's to seeing more progress, even if it's not on the scale!

Got a lot of walking in this week.  Was hoping for a bigger loss.  But progress is progress.  Things have settled down now so hopefully I can be a little more focused for these last few weeks.

I'm holding pretty steady which is fine by me. I had an awful leg day yesterday (had to drop weight and reps to get through) but today's back day was one of the best I've ever had. Funny how the body works. Otherwise, been going steady as usual the past week.

Coach updated macros yesterday - I'm holding steady on protein and fats but she dropped me from 180g carbs to 165g. Doable without being too restrictive. It's too soon to tell but I think this small decrease will still allow me to make progress in the gym while speeding up a bit more fat loss. Not only do I want to succeed at the Summer Shreds challenge but  I want to feel the best I ever have when we head to our vacation in October so we want to see progress but not lose momentum. I love this balance.

Speaking of, I'm bouncing between 6th and 2nd place in Summer Shreds - usually 6th place is before I input my workout and I'll bounce back up to 2nd. I'm sure if it wasn't so hot and I could take the dogs on a walk after dinner I'd be dominating. Alas, it's nearly 100F (37C) even at 6-7pm so best we just stay indoors. Anyway, that's keeping me really motivated and focused on my goals. Hopefully it'll keep me laser-focused while traveling for work like it did the past weekend while traveling to drop the stepkids off at mom's for the school year. Gosh I miss them.

I'm not sure I'll get a chance to post next week since I'm going to aim to knock out a workout in the gym and get home to get ready, eat breakfast, and head out for my flight on time. I'll try my best, though, even if it's a quick note from my phone.

My weight has been bouncing a lot lately and seems to be directly responding to carbs (I saw 264.x earlier which was an unhappy shock but it was probably the pizza). I have been staying around 260 which I am okay with, but I am not really getting back into the 258s which makes me think this fallow challenge that I am doing might be a little too lax. I don’t want to undo my progress while trying to let myself rest and process. It’s interesting to me to see the change in pondering my weight - I think about the change of a pound now week-to-week. Two years ago I didn’t notice if the weight wasn’t like 20 lbs difference. That is not an exaggeration. It’s a different kind of awareness. I wonder if I should just not weigh in for the rest of my fallow challenge and try to uncouple from that data completely the way I have tracking my food. The idea of that freaks me out a bit so I should probably consider it.

Edit: I just weighed in again after a moment in the washroom. Much lower. Apparently I am just holding food in my system for longer than normal. More fibre required I guess!

Well that answers that question: all the walking , hiking, and chasing kids on vacation DID outweigh (lol pun) the bakery goods!

Now the question is how to keep the progress going now that I'm home with my sedentary desk job.

School starts soon and MrMezzo is starting a half marathon training block. He's wanting to focus on clean eating so maybe that will help.

I waited to post because my Monday weigh in was higher than usual.  Sunday's was decent.  I figured I'd would wait until Tuesday to see which was more 'accurate'.  Tuesday was back to Sunday's weight so that's what I'm logging.  Still not a whole pound for the week but Monday's weigh in was a gain.  Last week was a bit of a rough week; not for any particular reason other than food is delicious.  :D   I did get lots of walking in and hitting my 150 minutes of cardio a week goal.  On track to do the same this week.

This is a false low. I'm battling covid and didn't eat or drink nearly anything yesterday as I slept all day trying to break the fever. I'm going to try to do better since I still have to try to work today so during my lucid moments, I'll be force-feeding myself nutritious foods and pushing water & electrolytes.

No gym this week and right now I'm focused on reserving energy so no at home workouts. If I start to feel better towards the end of the week, I may do some gentle at home movement (yoga, stretching, maybe some body weight work) but that's future me's decision. Primary focus this week: survive.

Crazy week last week with no workouts during the week, as it was first week back from trip and first week of first grade for oldest.

I did run on Saturday and do the NF workout Sunday so I'm officially back on track with my workouts. Hoping to get firmly in the groove before next challenge starts ?

Another weird Monday weigh in so I took Sunday's.  Tuesday's weigh in was a new low but overall week to week I'm only inching my weigh down.  But I'm consistently heading in the right direction and still happy to be under the 250's.

Still rather low but I am inching up slightly now that I'm on the mend from covid. May continue to trend slightly up over this week due to better hydration, I'm able to comfortably eat more (appetite is back), and I'm back in the gym and feeling quite sore (glycogen stores/water weight from recovery). This is all okay.

Coach dropped 5g fat and 5g carbs on macros so I'm running at:

150g Protein

160g Carbs

70g Fat

Not bad, 5g doesn't make a huge difference as far as eating goes but we'll see if it helps shed a bit more fat without impacting my workouts. Coach knows in 5 weeks I head to vacation and spend a week on a beach - I want to be comfortable in my swimsuit! I know 5 weeks isn't enough to get me to goal (especially since I haven't gotten to goal yet and I've been working with Coach since April 22nd - we in this for the long game) but I have made progress and 5 weeks is enough to see more progress if I work hard and stay dedicated. Because I want to continue to build strength, we don't want to go too deep into a cut that I have to back off workouts to not burn out, but hopefully the muscle building will offset the slowness by helping me burn a little extra fat during rest and recovery. Yay for muscle being more metabolically active!

Wow, I'm back at "milestone 1". Vacation damage undone, methinks. ?

Now to maintain this for another week (family BBQ tomorrow, so overindulging is a possibility certainty).

And then I can use the next challenge to go for milestone 2: 88 kg! Once I'm there, there are no more targets, then it's just "let's see how low I can get before it naturally stops".

I'll take it.  I took some liberties and used today's final weigh in for my final.  I needed a few days to lose the bloat from all the fair foods over the weekend.  I do really like this PVP because it forces me to look back at loss over a longer period than just each's week's ups and downs.   I didn't hit my goal but I'm not going to complain over a consistent loss over 12 weeks.  I'm especially happy that my post fair trip weigh in was still under 250.  If I can get through a long weekend trip that includes cheese curd tacos, big fat bacon on a stick, and other fried delicacies and still stay under 250 I'm a happy camper.  Time to break through the 240's now.  Which reminds me....

Anyone interested in doing another round??

You don't have to be perfect, you just have to be better than you were before. Do that every day and you will succeed.
