Last Daily Dare of 2016 (Nov 27 - Dec 31)

I think that this might be too much for me right now.  I'm still pretty new to regular workouts, and this is... hard.  I'll stick with it for the month, but I don't think I'm going to be getting many points.

I wouldn't worry about getting a lot of points if I we're you, I find these vary from surprisingly easy to completely impossible! If you enjoy doing them and you get to try out a few new things along the way then just stick with it and have fun :)

What helps for me is making it a regular part of my morning routine. It's pretty much the first thing I do after I get out of bed. Of course it doesn't always happen, sometimes I'll sleep in or I won't feel like getting out of bed, and I just run out of time. But I think forgiving yourself, and not beating yourself up over for missing it, is a really good/important skill to have. (Which I am very much still working on.)

There's also a decent number of dares that I can't do because I can't even do one regular push up with good form. But one day...

Anyway, butt-ups done with EC. I didn't watch the video until after I'd done them, and turns out I made it much harder than it needs to be!

As is, I like doing those but was feeling them toward the end.

Feel free to modify them. If you can't do what they suggest (or just don't want to), think of what you could do that is vaguely similar.

I've realized that the vast majority of the Dares can be done within one song on my ipod. I have a few go-to songs, set it playing and do my best. Somehow that helps get me in the right daily dare mindset. You might give it a try.

...also feel free to complain about any Dares you think are hard, annoying or unpleasant. That's part of the fun around here :-)

I'll start. Set a good example and all. ;)

So those lunges may have been a mistake. A very painful mistake. Walking hurts. Sitting hurts. And I'm so glad my apartment doesn't have any stairs and that I live on the ground floor. Because I don't think I can stair right now.

I have a small proposal for you guys. I'm pretty sure no one but me has recorded the points for Nov 27. I feel like that's a little unfair because I was the one to post this thread, and I didn't do it until the 27th.

I think if anyone wants to go back and do that dare, it would be in the spirit of the challenge. How about finish it by the end of the day Thursday (12/8) and you can count it?

http://darebee.com/hive/daily-dares/279714-dd-27-november-2016-2-minutes-side-leg-raise-hold

It was also kind of a weird dare (hard to know what should count). Most of the people logging on to the actual Darebee site said that their leg wasn't raised the full 90 degrees. They just held it up as high as they could given their own flexibility. That's what I did too.

Sounds good to me! Then again I just want the extra points after wussing out most of week 0 :P .

Question for everyone on today's one (40 balanced side lunges), are we doing those 20-20 each side? That seems to be the consensus on the Darebee comments, but I wanted to check with you guys?

I don't think it matters as long as you keep your arms up the whole time. I did 10-10-10-10 because it's easier for me to count that way. I also had to watch the video a couple of times to get the movement right, the illustration was not very helpful.

That was one of the ones I noped on, so I'll pass (since I decided not to do it vs just missing it).

I was just coming on to ask this question too as I didn't think it very clear either.

So 20 per side?

yay! Welcome. Most are doable. A few are crazy....you'll see

Regarding today, I'm going to try for 20/20. That's what Darebee tends to specify. But if they don't say explicitly (like today), I think it's fair enough to interpret as you will.

There's some clarification in their instruction manual: "Number of reps is always a total number for both legs / arms / sides. It’s easier to count this way: e.g. if it says 20 climbers, it means that both legs are already counted in - it is 10 reps each leg."
