shifting to a saturday weigh in for the remainder of the year. I am thrilled with my progress this week. I’m going to relax a bit and enjoy the holidays and check in to just keep from gaining.  I’d like to lose one more pound this year,  but this is good.

Smashed the big goal today!  I put the gas pedal to the floor after Thanksgiving and haven't let up on it yet, nor do I even feel the need to.  I'm getting plenty of good quality nutritious foods, excellent rest, and what seems like the perfect amount of exercise for my current goal of simply losing weight.  I intend to keep burning at this rate for the next couple of weeks, then I'll ease up for the holiday gauntlet and pick it back up again after the new year.

I did not fully appreciate how much emotional support food played into my holidays until this year when I am not dealing with all the various stuff with food. Sigh. It’s been great in some ways, but I find myself wistfully wishing cake was a vegetable.

Yeah, Christmas is stressful! Have you found yourself coping in other ways, with support eating out of the equation?

Quite frankly stunned that I lost any weight at all this week, after two very beery Christmas celebrations. This week I'm going to put some effort into some extra discipline during the week, and I only have 1 Christmas gathering on Sunday, so I'm going to keep working on continuing this trend.

I decided to tweak how I'm doing my calories daily. I had been adjusting my calories in response to my daily activity level (as measure by Whoop). I've done that for a few months and turned off the feature that passes calories from Whoop to MyFitnessPal and instead added 500 calories a day, every day to my calories. This will be my experiment for the next 2-3 weeks before I reenter weight loss.

EDIT: noticed a typo that my October 30 weigh in was listed as 212.6. I checked my spreadsheet and it should be 216.2. Corrected error.

Today's weight is significantly higher but I believe that's purely water weight from salt and re-hydration after travel. We arrived home late Saturday night and yesterday was unpacking and settling back in for work today. No plans until the 22nd when the Man will travel to switch kids (the oldest goes up to mom's while the youngest two come down to us) and come home the 23rd. Repeat this the 29th/30th. I'll be home alone-ish (I'll have both dogs) those nights and that will be the only big change to my routine.

That said, I should be okay to resume my normal routine and, hopefully, get back on a nice downward trend with scale/inches. Workout and food plans are in place!

You don't have to be perfect, you just have to be better than you were before. Do that every day and you will succeed.

I got a book called The Worry Workbook: 12 steps to an anxiety free life by Frank Minirth and Les Carter. It's remarkably helpful, and a lot better than having panic attacks in the dairy aisle. Seriously, it's really helped me understand how certain thought patterns are creating anxiety and that I'm no longer in a situation where I have to protect myself from toxic people so I can stop running this script in my head, and it's going to take a little practice, but I'm excited about it!

SO much for remembering to weigh in this morning. At 11 am I was 151-ish, but that was after hydrating and going to the gym, so no idea. I don't feel heavier *shrug*

You probably really arent' then. by 11am I'm usually at my peak weight for the day, it's just a lot different than my 6am weigh in. I have this weird image that the extra weight is sleeping and doesn't clock in until almost lunch time. It's really weird, but true.

This is hilarious, but I'm guessing a little optimistic for me. I'm drifting back to my IF/two meals a day on weekdays ways. (Family breakfast on the weekend is special). Which is to say that I feel better skipping breakfast AND it gives me more time to snuggle with kids and pack for the day. So at 11 am I'd done my workout (climbing and weight lifting) and had coffee, water, and 1/2 a banana that my kid didn't eat.

Also my sleep deteriorated again the past 4 days (teething baby), so losing weight is going to be HARD when I'm clocking less than 4 hours of continuous sleep.

I totally forgot to weigh in this weekend. ?

But with the amount of chocolate and letter-shaped biscuits I've eaten this past week, that might be a good thing... ?

I think it'll be safer for me to just skip the rest of this, and do a proper weigh-in in the second week of January, to make the shock effect coincide with the respawn... ?

Spelling something out with biscuits. But eating them is preferable - they're absolutely delicious!!!

I'm down 1.8 pounds this week, which feels awesome. It feels good to be back on track. I'm trying to plan and prioritize the festive foods. Mom made a loaf of sticky gingerbread and it is delicious. So I'm planning for that, instead of eating candy. I'm also looking forward to eating gingerbread cookies. I LOVE GINGERBREAD

Slight uptick is fine, arguably desired, for this week and next.

I think in 2024 I'm going to use weekly average rather than point in time. It's a minor difference but I think more reflective of what I care about. I make some of the volatility go away.

That was Saturday's weigh in as well as today's! We are carb cycling every other day and it's making us realize how sugary and carb-filled our diet is. No wonder we couldn't get enough protein in our diets! It's a learning process. Last week was M-W-F-Sun low carb while Tues-Thurs-Sat were normal eating (not really tracking anything except hunger cues). This week it's Tues-Thurs-Sun (the Man travels Fri/Sat to get kids this coming weekend and the weekend before New Years to get/drop off kiddos with their mom - not forcing him to try to travel and go low carb so we pushing it out a day - works out Christmas day is normal eating now!) I might, since I'll be home alone both Fridays, do a second low carb day since I feel so much better/less bloated on those days. Plus gives me a reason to try out new recipes to see if I think they'll work with the entire family.

Trial and error is ensuring the Man gets enough calories - his run days happen to coincide with low-carb days so I'm working hard to find balance between those two. Mine alternate since I run M-W-F every week - Last week I ran on low-carb days, this week I won't. Next week I may, depending on how Christmas morning looks since it's a Monday and I have some blueberry lemon cinnamon rolls to make for some very hungry kids!

You don't have to be perfect, you just have to be better than you were before. Do that every day and you will succeed.

Absolutely no idea how the number's gone down this week - I've eaten and drank a lot, and had the lowest weekly calorie burn my watch has recorded since I joined this challenge. It's possible that I was just dehydrated this morning, but whatever, I'll take what I can get!

It'll be lovely to get under 170 by the end of the year, or better still 168 (that's 12 stone).

Don't say "I don't have enough time", say instead "that's not a priority right now" and see how that makes you feel.

Bodies are weird. Maybe you needed a break from working hard! :D

Whoa this is fascinating! I'm looking forward to hearing how you like this long-term. We have a similar problem with not enough protein in our house too.

Oooh, I really like this idea! It would definitely take into account that bodies are weird and be a little less focused on each ounce. I like how you said "make some of the volatility go away" so true... hmm hmm hmm, very nice idea...
