I was surfing around and stumbled onto Nerd Fitness and since it looks to be a very interesting community I thought I would join. I really like the group goal setting and the challenges. I just wrapped up a large physical goal by completing the Tough Mudder this October.

My next macro goal is to run the St. Louis Tough Mudder in 2013 and this time I don't want to just finish the course but I want to finish it strong so I will be setting my goals appropriate to that. What I am struggling with is developing my programming and nutrition plans for both endurance training and strength training whilst maintaining as much of my muscle mass as possible.

Anyway I look forward to participating with and getting to know you all.

Thanks for the welcome! Shortly after finishing my first TM I sat down and developed a "lessons learned" from the experience. In a nutshell I want to: 1) Be a more efficient runner 2) Be a more explosive jumper 3) Have more "pull strength"

To achieve these 3 goals I intend to: 1) Drop a significant amount of weight which will help with all 3 of my goals (I weighed in at about 265 on race day) 2) I am going to utilize chains and or bands in my training 3) I am going to tweak my form and add some exercises to activate my glutes and hamstrings 4) I am going to educate myself on running form and mechanics.

Sounds like you have a nice big goal you are working on and already have a pretty decent set of small goals that will help you accomplish that big one! Good luck!
