It's amazing how much time you have when you put down the remote/keyboard/joystick...and your friends/family are mostly at the gym/dojo

Spot on with the friends and family.  I see my actual family after training at the weekend, except for that birthday dinner where I rolled out of bed, went to their and slept till dinner was ready.  That one was self inflicted.

Muay Thai drills and some wrestling.  Actually liking kick boxing but the standing straight forward is weird.  Complimented on my uchi mata during wrestling, after looking confused as hell for 20 minutes then pulling out what I did know I could do.

No gi BJJ.  Debating whether 10 planet or splashing on 1 to 1 coaching is going to work best on a Sunday.

Bench: 77.5x3 - couldn't bench 82.5kg because my shoulders were loose from having traps too tight :(

Judo:

Wrong leg tai otoshi into kouchi gari/gake or hane goshi depending on reaction. 

Got the "be gentle" talk during randori, then partner starts throwing their weight about?  Naw, no happening.

Hit some lovely tight jujis during ne waza though.

It is, and I can be gentle and float and am happy to when that's the pace of practice dictated.  (You could ask some BJJ guys the difference between me and comp me)

But too often every one is wanting to go "gentle" then firing into 100% mid round.

Saturday:

Judo.  Started in ne waza and got a compliment on my coaching for juji gatame, it's very technical :D

Then some ne waza randori with the head coach which started with subtle non judo and turned into all out BJJ (I started it with DLR and berimbolo nonsense and he escalated with leg locks.)  Then choked the assistant coach with his own choke defense (lol)

Basically, judo was a riot today.

Jerk: 55x5x5
Plate Pinches: 10x25seconsx6
Sled Rope Pulls: 52x10mx5x2 - yeah I need to do these better for judo, this was minorly embarrassing.

The woman I coach (another mini beast), benched 66kg today, she need to hit this at her next para comp to be considered for a GB para squad spot.  We're both nervous but I think I hide it better.

Sunday:

BJJ at 10th planet.  "Berimbolo is the hardest part of today" nah it's the easiest.  Doing lots of nice movey things and being pretty good at putting pressure on when starting from standing.

Unfortunatelt I won't be going back as I was partnered with a novice on some pretty nasty submissions (risky enough) and had another novice try and rip my ankle off (even with tapping) during rolling.  Not at all apologetic, I probably came across as a bit grumpy, but imagine wanting to train in a safe environment.

Monday:

Squat: 137.5x2
Squat Drop Sets: 131x2x6
Bench: 85x2
Bench Drop Sets: 81x2x4

Flat Bench: 70x4

Flat Bench Drop Sets: 67x4x2

Assistance: bent over row and bicep curls

 

BJJ Fundamentals: Passing guard and arm bar control from mount
BJJ Advanced: Taking the back and RNC, Crucifix or ashi gatame (what's it in BJJ?) to finish.
BJJ Rolling: took one five minute rest just over half way through, I'm probably back in good condition but not quite back to technically sharp.

Experimenting with floor presses over here.  The way I was setting them up was a mistake.

 

 

I did DB floor presses for the first time this week and really like them. Hit the chest in a different way

I think I'd get more out of continuing with spoto press or long paused bench.

Saturdays comp update:

Squat: 135/ 145/ 153 - new British record
Bench: 80/ 87.5x/ 87.5 - new Scottish record (didn't get to 93kg for the British)
Deadlift: 135/ 145/ 160.5x - opener gave me a new Scottish record total and puts me ahead of the current top 63kg GBPF lifter.

 

Total: 385.5 at 59.7kg - time to diet



Turns out I make a good 52, 57 and 63.
