Workout Playlist?

Recommended Posts

Okay I don't know whether or not there is a thread out there like this already (I suspect there is), but I don't know where to find it and thought that this would be a cool little help thread for anyone who wants to feel more inspired in their workouts.

Music can make you feel many things including being determined or fighting towards a goal. So I'm wondering - what kind, if any, music do you have hooked into your ears when working out?

I've only just started working out but my main looks to when I am are -

Superchick (specifically their Rock What You Got album)

Stick It! 's OST (brill movie if you want to feel like getting into shape)

Eminem (his faster songs only)

And a few japanese rock artists...

Specifically on the Superchick album "One More" is a particularly powerful song for encouraging a workout.

What about you guys?

For running - Aarmin van Buuren - A State of Trance ep 200 (been listening to it almost exclusively for every run for a couple of years)

For lifting - NIN - The Downward Spiral, Apoptygma Berzerk - 7, Bad Religion - Generator (so far I like NIN the best)

I'm starting to generate another playlist of songs that really get me...mostly for running I think. So far I have:

Muse - Knights of Cydonia

Modest Mouse - Dashboard

Florence and the Machine - Shake it Out

Journey - Don't Stop Believing

Europe - Eye of the Tiger

Moby - Rushing maybe?

Bloodhound Gang - Discovery Channel/Untiss Untiss Untiss

Mumford and Sons - Little Lion Man

Sublime - I dunno something

Mighty Mighty Bosstones - Impression That I Get

They Might Be Giants - Man It's So Loud in Here, or possibly something else

Smashing Pumpkins - Disarm, XYU, maybe something else instead

You could check out jog.fm - I went there and just put in random mile times and got some good song suggestions.

Man, I've gotta go through these and see what I think of them as my workout playlist is a little on the short side.

But I love your Eye of the Tiger MirGSS.

I had to do some weird fighting themed dance thing for my PE class back in high school and I can now never listen to that song without cringing in humiliation. But it is a classic ;-) Lol.

If you like j rock... dir en grey and melt banana are very upbeat good bands.

I really like Dir En Grey. I would also recommend The Gazette, Malice Mizer and Gackt as a solo artists. Specifically his Yellow Fried Chickenz album. And if you want upbeat then have you tried Abingdon Boys School and Arashi?

My workout playlist is pretty random, and short, since I don't spend hours organizing my music any more.

Here goes:

-Distant Relatives -Nas and Damien Marley, rap/reggae, nothing else like it

-Rammstein

-Rage Against the Machine

-Gigantic -The Pixies

-Aesop Rock

-Leftover Crack

-Star Fucking Hipsters

Really anything loud or fast. If I hit a really good song, I'll repeat it until one of my tough sets.

Never think of pain or danger or enemies a moment longer than is necessary to fight them. -Ayn Rand

I feel better that so many people repeat their songs because I always have mine on repeat over and over to get me going and I thought I was just weird. Lol.

And I agree Corbab - when you hit a tough spot you need something new.

My playlist is pretty much my running playlist, because that's what I've primarily always done. Only just recently got into lifting, so hopefully they'll convert over pretty well, haha. Though I plan on stealing some of the songs on the lists that you guys post.

My current list:

Union Underground - Across The Nation

Three Days Grace - Animal I Have Become

Skillet - Awake and Alive

Downstait - Beat Down

Linkin Park - Bleed it Out

Linkin Park - Faint

Black Veil Brides - Fallen Angels

Trapt - Headstrong

Skillet - Hero

AFI - Miseria Cantare

Skillet - Monster

Thousand Foot Krutch - Move

Sick Puppies - You're Going Down

12 Stones - We Are One

Skillet - Whispers In the Dark

... and then my nerdiness really comes into play, and I have:

WWE Theme - Break The Walls Down

WWE Theme - Just Close Your Eyes

WWE Theme - Radio

WWE Theme - Smoke and Mirrors

WWE Theme - This Fire Burns

Alter Bridge - Metalingus

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

- Philipians 4:13

AWESOME TEAM OF FLYING MONGOOSES!

I change my playlist constantly because I get bored but currently it looks like this:

Ed Sheeran - You need me, I dont need you

Greenday - Pacemaker

LMFAO - Party Rock Anthem

Pitbull - I know you want me

Lady Gaga - Edge of Glory

Jennifer Lopez- Lets get loud

LMFAO - Sexy and I know it

Enrique Iglesias (Ft Pittbull) - I Like it

M.I.A - Paper Planes

Ke$ha - Blah Blah Blah

Tinie Tempah - Pass Out

Jeniffer Lopez (Ft pitbull) - On the floor

M.I.A - Come Around

Daft Punk - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger

M.I.A - Bamboo Banga

Ricky Martin - Drop it on me

T.O.K - She's hot.

Bit of a mix there, some pop, some rock, some hip hop.

I zone out so much while lifting that I don't listen to music.

If I decide to run though it's usually the same old trance playlist like MirGSS. DJ Doboy - Elements Hydrogen

It has a really good steady beat/pace to the music that I find easy to run to.

Last time I tried to run to Double kick death metal by Insomnium I ended up sprinting up a 500meter hill to start my run and started walking home after about 5 minutes.

One of my go-to songs, is Come with my by -p.diddy. Yes I'm ashamed to even admit that... but it's like 6 minutes... and it gets me going...

I have some Rage, Godsmack, some *I'm a badass woman** songs... Eminen, Numb/Encore by Jay-z and Linkin' Park... AC/DC... some old Nelly... I can by Nas, Victory Puff Daddy/Biggie...Puimp up the Jam :) (Don't hate... it's for days when I'm not feeling the workout.) Hit 'em by Busta Rhymes, Coolio, LL Cool J. Freedom by George M...Rammstein...

I have one of the most random workout playlists... but it works for me!

Pretty much anything with a good tempo. I like Eminem's stuff, Carry on Wayward Son (Kansas), Will Smith, Stevie Wonder (Part Time Lover is a good song), Look at Me (Karmin's version), Livin' on a Prayer (hell yeaaaah) and a bunch of other random stuff from the 80's, 90's, early 2000's.

+100 Rammstein (worth saying again)

Those are all good suggestions, with the exception of Lonely Island, because I'd crack up and drop the weight whenever they came on.
