I never read "cozy" books before that, but now I want to mix those in between each heavy book or long series.

Can highly recommend cozy reads for a pallette cleanser between (or when you need a break part way through) especially chewy books.
(Brandon Sanderson stormlight archive, I'm looking at you)

they are also good when your under the weather or get brain fog. Or just need something thats less of an emotional rollercoaster (i find them good during buisy family holidays like christmas).

The cinnamon rolls! They made me think more about Cinnabon than I had in a very long time.

I'm on a quest to find the best cinnamon rolls in town. I suspect none of them will be close enough for me to make them a regular event - just a special treat!

Read Abby Jiminez's Yours Truly this week. Blitzed through it much faster than expected. I thought the end dragged on a little long, but overall I really liked it. I think the strongest point was that the obligatory misunderstanding between the two leads had more to do with them thinking too little of themselves, rather than assuming the worst of the other.

I was also recommended Why We Read by Shannon Reed. I responded, "We read because we like it." and was told I just summed up hundreds of pages in one sentence, but then was told to read it anyways because it's very good. So that might be my next nonfiction after The Sharper Your Knife the Less You Cry.

“I've always believed that failure is non-existent. What is failure? You go to the end of the season, then you lose the Super Bowl. Is that failing? To most people, maybe. But when you're picking apart why you failed, and now you're learning from that, then is that really failing? I don't think so." - Kobe Bryant, 1978-2020. Rest in peace, great warrior.

I sent a message to Adrian Tchaikovsky to say I was enjoying Made Things (which I still am enjoying, as I near the final pages), and to comment on how a lot of his characters appear to be equipped with magic items that bring to mind D&D (which happens to be something I'm kind of doing in my own book), so I was just saying I liked his book as a reader and a writer. AND OH MY GOSH HE REPLIED TO MY EMAIL!!! THAT HE LIKES D&D!!! ??? Day very much improved. ?

I've just read the first three books in Sarah J Maas' "A Court of Thorns and Roses" series. The first one was serviceable enough, had a stronger ending than I expected it to be. I was lukewarm about continuing, but a friend said the second book was great. It was much more engaging and I flew through it. The third one was alright, but I'm not feeling the pull to the fourth right now. I'll see if I get back to it.

Rhythm of War is still staring at me from the coffee table, and I have another dozen or so in my TBR pile. I'm finding I'm not doing well with short daily reading goals, that I'm much more of a binge reader. I'm already at 4 books for the year, which is already more than I read last year though, so I'll take that.

“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Have you read laura thalassa’s “the bargainer” series? They’re amazing and well worth having a look at.
