The 10/12lbs in 10/12 weeks weight-loss Player-versus-Player challenge! 

 

 Now's the time to sign-up for a Player-versus-Player accountability challenge sure to motivate you to tackle those weight loss goals!  Of course, we only advocate losing healthy weight and using healthy methods to get there! This playful side quest is less about beating your peers to the finish line than it is about challenging yourself, making some new accountibilibuddies, and having a place to share your battle plan or struggles along the way.

Feel free to set your goals online with either the 5 weeks of your next two challenges, or include both Week Zeros for a full 12 weeks.  Set goals that you think are realistic (that could even be 6lbs/12weeks or whatever works for you) It's okay to need a break sometimes, even if it’s not Week 0. If you find you need to take a week off, that’s okay. Take the time you need, and hop back into the spreadsheet when you’re ready. Stick around for the excellent company and to cheer on your fellow pirates.  

 

 Weigh-in sometime this week, and again every week.  Share your data in the SPREADSHEET!  Post your successes, struggles, and tips.

The Rules

1.      Sign-up using the SPREADSHEET.  Add your name & starting weight, waist measurements optional. Don’t enter a value for “Current Weight” just yet. That will update automatically as you enter your weekly weigh-ins.  10 or 12 lbs in 10 or 12 weeks (roughly 1lb or 0.5kg per week) is the goal but feel free to increase or decrease the difficulty as you see fit.  Whatever your goals are, you are most welcome to participate (even if you'd like to join in late)!

2.      Introduce yourself to your fellow competitors!  Feel free to mention your goals, any battle plans for getting there, and what your primary motivation or inspirations are.  Feel free to mention your Challenge goals or BattleLog too!  This is an excellent place to get to know others from the forums.

3.      Update the SPREADSHEET with your weekly weigh-ins.  We're using Monday as the 'official' day, but if Sunday, Tuesday, or any other day work better, go nuts!  Just keep it at roughly a week for tracking purposes.  This challenge is aligned with the current and next 5 Week Challenges, with optional weeks off for Zero Week at the start and in between. 

5. Have fun, encourage everyone, and keep each other accountable!

Tips for Success!

1.      Get some exercise! 30 minutes of cardio is great for your bloodpressure and HDL cholesterol! Strength training is great for building muscle and burning fat, and yoga is a great stress buster that challenges your body to move in new ways! Also, exercise is great for getting good sleep!

2.      Eat your veggies! Green leafies are fantastic, but so are non-leafy greens and other colorful veggies!

3.      Stay hydrated! It's good for you whole body, including your brain!

4.      Visit and update us (and the SPREADSHEET) regularly to build that accountability network.

5.      Share your workout playlist for MAXIMUM HYPE!! 

6.      Get enough sleep, and schedule rest days. Not only does rest and sleep help repair and make our bodies        stronger, studies show that a good night's sleep will actually clean your brain so you feel refreshed, focused, and less moody the next day. 

7.    Make your inner critic WALK THE PLANK! (arrr, we can still be piratey)

Starting weight: 204.4 lbs

Goal this challenge: 10 lbs loss.

 

There's a 10-day vacation in there halfway through which will complicate things for me, but let's see how low I can get the weight.
I'd already be happy if I can get under that 200 lbs mark again...

Back on board for the summer! Thanks for taking over posting, @TimovieMan!

 

SW: 170 lbs

Goal: 5 lbs

 

I'm planning to mostly coast this summer, so if I can lose 5bs I'll be happy. If I somehow hit that number early, I'll switch to maintenance until the end of summer. My goal is to be at 165 when Sept 1 rolls around and hit fall with some renewed motivation before the holiday season starts.

Definitely in for this. Not sure what my goal is as I haven't weighed in since I got back from Greece but I will on Monday and do my goals from that. Excited to be back on the horse!

Hi Friends!

 

I hit my 50 lb loss today!! I am so incredibly excited!! I took at picture of the scale readout after I stepped on it the third time to confirm. So hopefully things are moving again now. Even if they are only moving by tiny increments. This is my lowest weight in ~4 years and the lowest I’ve been without powerlifting or keto. I am very happy with this path and these results.

I'm in again and perpetually until I get to Onederland.  

 

Starting Weight (6/14) 252.8

Goal: 10 pounds.  But I have a 5 day trip to Seattle during this challenge, moving house between challenges and then this PVP ends with my annual trip to the MN State Fair to eat everything greasy and fattening on a stick!

ETA: Theoretically this should be 5-6 more of these PVPs, but I've already been in like 8 so...

I'm thinking I might actually do things differently, at least for this challenge and just wanted to run it by you guys to see if it's ok if I join given I am bastardising the rules. 

 

I've been toying with not weighing in this challenge because I find if I plateau or gain weight it gives me a case of the fuckits which runs against everything I am trying to achieve. I already have my spreadsheets set up to calculate hypothetical weight loss based on cals in vs cals out, so can I weigh in hypothetically, based on my progress rather than actual weigh ins, and do an actual weigh in at the end?

Giving myself an extra day to even out because Father's Day baseball game & beer wrecked my weigh in this morning... ?

 

Also realized I'm not going to have access to a scale for 4 weeks during the challenge so there will be some gaps in my spreadsheet row. Still here to cheer though!

Does today start as week 1?   or week 0? 

Whatever  today is, recorded weight 252.3 

 

Half a pound in the half week since I logged to the spreadsheet.  I'll take it.  Had a huge Father's Day breakfast yesterday but luckily it didn't cause a big fuss on the scale.   This week will be difficult with a work potluck Wednesday, dinner poolside at family on Thursday, and then a Summer Sunday brunch again on Sunday (naturally). 

 

I feel like I start every week thinking this week will be difficult for various reasons.  I've come to the realization that this is the normal and it's just a question of addressing each week's particular difficulty.  Also yes, I can be a slow learner.

I'd like to join in! :) Hi, I'm Mezzo, mom of 3 looking to lose the same 20 pounds of baby weight for the third (and FINAL) time! 

 

Starting weight: 164

Goal: 5 pounds

 

Summer is kinda crazy (or maybe that's just life with kids? lol) and I will miss a few weigh-ins while I'm on a trip with the whole family. I do have some small changes listed in my challenge that I'm hoping will help me lose some weight.

  • 3+ workouts a week
  • Just 1 cup of coffee (less caffeine and creamer!)
  • brush teeth after breakfast and lunch to curb daytime junk food snacks

want to get back into regular walking this month, now i actually feel more human. Weather is warmer so a weekly swim is on the radar too. Picking healthy snack when out is currently my weakness ? lots of festivals coming up here, so dificult

6/17: 169.6 (-0.4)

 

I've been seeing 169.x pretty consistently on the scale over the last week (aside from some small blips like yesterday), but I think it's safe to say I'm out of the 170s! ?

 

Even though we just started, this is my last weigh in for the next few weeks, because I'll be out of town - unless there happens to be a scale in the guest bathroom where we're staying. But I'll be here cheering you all on!

A solid week despite a food day, a barbecue, and a brunch.  I'll take it!  It did help that we got back out for a walk and made it the whole 3 miles despite the humidity and heat.  I did have to sit a spell at mile 2.   

 

This week's obstacle - A trip to Seattle with my college bestie.  I leave Thursday morning and we're spending the weekend there.   I struggle the most with consecutive days off my routine.  I'm sure we'll get lots of steps in though.

I didn't have the energy for a weigh-in on Friday and decided to sit a week out. There was a bit of indulgence this weekend, and tomorrow I have a team building event at work which will involve all-you-can-eat ribs, so next Friday doesn't promise a lot of good either.

So I am up a huge amount this week, which I was expecting given that I went away for the weekend. Eating and movement are never on point when we go home. I had a great weekend though and had a significant NSV when I discovered that I am two t-shirt sizes smaller at Torrid than I was in December, so I’ll take it.

 

I am also beginning to think that my 258 was an anomaly - I’ve seen 260 since then, but only once and the rest of the time I am hovering around 263. So maybe I celebrated too early? It doesn’t really matter, I suppose, just need to keep on keeping on.
