Hey all,

I've been following nerd fitness for about a year now, just joined the boards.

I'm a 38 year old woman who's goal is to be fit by 40, right now I'm grossly overweight and mostly out of shape.

I started running last year and thanks to that I've dropped 20 lbs, I've modified my diet and track everything I eat now.

My next goal is to start serious strength training, to improve my running and just be stronger!

Looking forward to any tips/tricks and advice I can learn from y'all.

Thanks.

Hey there Liya, welcome! Congrats on the 20#, that's awesome!! I started my foray after my 36th b-day, pretty much the same goal! Get it together by 40. Awesome! Is there anything you're particularly interested in checking out along with the running? Best of luck on your journey, you'll find lots of great support here!

Thank you for the welcome!

I'm looking to tone!  I wanna be svelte,   I've been doing the basic body weight workout for about a month now, but I feel like to much of my routine focuses on my lower half, I can't do a push up to save my life, well not without being on my knee's.

I belong to a planet fitness and am thinking about doing their 30 minute workout, for strength.

I would like to do crossift but it kinda terrifies me, and it's prohibitively expensive for me.  But I've seen the type of results it can provide.

Planet fitness should have a good free weight section, cross fit freaks me out because of the time vs reps issue (my form fails when I'm racing the clock, so not great for me, but good for others), but good old fashioned lifting is a solid way to get tone if strength training is what you're after! Pop in the warriors section if you're curious :D
