Weight Loss PVP: 10 or 12 lbs in 10 or 12 Weeks! HOLIDAY BONUS EDITION [September 11-November 27, 2023] [With December Holiday Bonus Weeks]

Not what I was hoping to see, but given the holiday plus travel (we went to visit my in-laws), I'll take it.  Also, not recorded here because it was mid-week, but my number before we left for the trip was higher.  So, while still up overall, I did go down a bit from where I was pre-holiday!  It is unlikely, but it would be lovely if I could get the number to drop before Friday so I can record something nice for my end/start of the month stats.

Hi all, I wasn't following along with this challenge, but as you're extending it for the rest of the year I feel like it's a good time to jump in. If nothing else, I could use the extra motivation/accountability to get through Christmas party season, because there's always a surfit of food and booze available at this time of year.

This is what's been occurring over the past few weeks, since I bought a new set of scales:

Date Weight Weight change

23/10/2023 174.1 -2.3

30/10/2023 171.8 0.9

06/11/2023 172.7 0.8

13/11/2023 173.5 -0.8

20/11/2023 172.7 -1.4

27/11/2023 171.3

So I'm down almost 3lbs in 6 weeks, but I'd really like to hit -1lb/week for the rest of the year. Guess I'm shooting for 166lbs (11 stone 12lbs) by new year's day!

I'm continuing for the holiday weeks as well, but it'll mostly be on damage control with a  planned post-New Year respawn...

I heard this was getting extended and decided to join in for the rest of the year.

Current weight 152.

Goal 140

Waist 30, height 5'7"

Baby #2 is 6 months old. My weight has been stable for about 4 months. I KNOW part of the reason I'm not losing weight is lack of sleep (and a healthy dose of PPD in there too). But also my base calorie burn just isn't what it used to be because I haven't reclaimed my bike commute and scooted my metabolism back in the right direction. I HAVE been climbing at the gym and power lifting, so I think I have put some muscle back where it belongs. Hop over to my challenges for that info.

Well, I seem to have fallen off the map for the last half of this one, and my weight gains prove it.  I have filled in the spreadsheet but the short of it is that I finished the regular season 2.5kgs above where I started.  Let's see if I can do anything about that in the post season.

I'm 273.0 according to my latest scan from Friday, *and* I bought pants that are two sizes smaller than what I was wearing this summer when I went pants shopping on Thursday. Woot!

I am so relieved! I weighed 233 on Friday and I was so upset by it. But my mother had reminded me that I had a pretty intense yard work day moving logs and rocks. So we did some walking and I stretched a lot, but mostly rested all weekend, just focusing on eating well.   Now it's a new week! I'm aiming for anywhere in 226 next week. :)

Dropped a lot of travel/holiday weight (this is Friday's weight). I've regained a smidgen this weekend due to some emotional news. If work approves, I'll leave Tuesday (tomorrow) and return Saturday or Sunday from an impromptu trip to Arkansas for a funeral. I'm allowing myself to grieve (again.......) and simply doing my best to listen to my body. Travel is always a challenge with the scale. I'm packing workout clothes in case I can sneak away in the mornings while there. We have an AirBnB so hopefully some "home" cooking and not strictly eating out this entire time. I'll do my best. When it rains, it pours, right? Holidays are hard enough to stay on track with and then travel? I'm now just hoping to come out of this extended travel in the 150s or lower!

You don't have to be perfect, you just have to be better than you were before. Do that every day and you will succeed.

It's "Sinterklaas" week and the house is chock-full with chocolate, candy, cookies and other incredibly tempting but insanely unhealthy stuff.

I'm basically living in a delicious hell.

So the weight is not going to go the right way, and it probably won't next week either. Then I'll have two weeks of reprieve (where most of the stuff we have now will have been eaten) before the Christmas and New Year's food shenanigans will begin.

I'm looking forward to all the food. I'm not looking forward to the scale numbers afterwards... ?

Back on form for the week--well, most of it anyways.  :D  Sticking to my calorie targets and exercise goals has pushed the rate of weight loss back up, and I'm if able to sustain it over the next three weeks then I could be in the middle teens, which would give me some margin for the birthday-Christmas-birthday gauntlet week.

Clothes are fitting better, although I'm battling some bloat this morning that's keeping my belt from cinching up like it did all last week.  It'll subside--I had a busy weekend.  I'm betting that a hard push this week might just crack that 220-line, so that's what I'm aiming for.

Up half a pound on last week, and it's no surprise. I wasn't particularly strict on calories at the start of the week, and then Friday night I hit a new calorie tracking high score at the office Christmas party  . On top of that I skipped one run at the weekend and cut the other one short, so that's a few hundred more calories I didn't burn.

This week includes at least 2 Christmas parties, and I won't spoil them by worrying too much about my weight while I'm at them  so I'm just going to have to be extra disciplined for the days in between them.

I've slowly lost 2.3 lbs over the past two weeks, based on summing my averages. I've only got three weeks left in the year. I'm torn between going hyper caloric for three weeks by adding 500 calories per day or just committing to my next weight loss early.

In other news, my new jeans mostly fit. They're Madewell Athletic Slim and despite being advertised as having "extra room for muscle" they're tight in the thighs. They feel like a skinny jean on me but I do have big legs. I still have some relaxed fit coming which I think will be the better fit.

It definitely did not.  In fact, it's been going up, a lot, every day since then. :(  Going to record tomorrow, no matter what it is, because that's apparently where I am right now.

And, I have decided I'm going to take the rest of the year off.  Going to record whatever tomorrow is in my planner, then again on New Year's Eve, but otherwise I'm staying off the scale.  It's not doing what I want, I'm not actively doing anything about it, and right now seeing that fact is not helping my mental health.  I've got enough other stressful stuff going on so I'm letting this one go entirely through the end of the year.  Good luck to everyone, hope you have lovely holidays (whichever ones you celebrate!), and I'll see you all again in 2024 where I *will* be successful!

Sounds like an excellent plan - if the scale isn't making you happy, and it isn't making you motivated, then ditch it and enjoy your Christmas! You will be successful in 2024.

Don't say "I don't have enough time", say instead "that's not a priority right now" and see how that makes you feel.

I agree with @Jarric.  Your health is the most important thing, and if this is adding to your stress, that's not helping your health. I hope your holiday is fantastic, and that you find yourself surrounded by good food and good company ? Yer a part of our crew now, and even if you take a bit of shore leave, you've always got a spot on board when you're ready to come back.
