Going exactly per expectation. I dinged sub 195 for two days but I also went out for fried fish on Saturday. I knew at the time that I would see a bodyweight bounce as a result and sure enough, I did. You can see it in the chart below. Interestingly, the final bounce is my fish dinner. The previous bounce, about 1/3 from the right edge of the line is my McDonald's meal from a week ago.

If this follows the pattern from last week I'll see the water weight come off about Thursday or so. I have a few confounding factors this week.

  1. No training - I'm getting new tattoos today and tomorrow so I'm taking the week off from training, so I won't be sweating and I won't burn ~3,500 calories
  2. Social stuff - I'm heading out for dinner on Friday at a friend's how, Sunday I am celebrating a different friend's birthday all day, there will be food
  3. I have a cold - I have no idea what cold and cold medicine will do to me

This all boils down to, I'm more or less, where I expected to be. I'm going to hold to 2200 calories except the two days I'm with friends. That means my average for the week may actually be up from last week, it may not. More than likely, though, next week I will still be at my deficit amount. I kind of figure all of March will go like this, with me running a deficit 5-6 days and a surplus 1-2 days. I expect I will eventually get my sub 195 landed but I'm just sticking to the system until it is.

Had a very similar week to @Jarric apparently - kept calories low enough in the first half that I actually hit a new low weight (174!) for my birthday on Friday. Happily gave myself some slack for the weekend and didn't track at all for the first time in 2 months. Had some favorite foods, grazed, drank alcohol, generally enjoyed myself without going overboard. I'm up today as expected, but honestly happy that I'm solidly in the 170s now even on my heavier days.

Main thing I'm feeling is dehydrated. Gonna chug water for the next week as well as getting calories and macros back in line.

screwed my calories over a couple of days (stress eating is annoying) so was expecting to gain some this week. Sometimes the scale gives you nice surprises apparently?

My target was trying to lose a stone and a half this year, looks like i might have to up that number!
did not see that one coming

Well done! Sometimes I find I drop a pound randomly after a day of heavier eating - like it gives my body permission to let go or something. Who knows, bodies are weird! ?

Oh my goodness, that is a drop this week. I got down to 263.x on Saturday but then ate my weight in mincemeat tarts while gaming on Sunday, so the 265 still feels really good. I’ve been feeling a little stymied this PVP although I am working hard to not let the bouncing around not bring me down. Still, this week’s weigh in is really encouraging. I’d like the 265.x to stick around for a while and to not see 270 ever again. Fingers crossed!

I was 265 for quite a while in my 20s so I often think of it as a set point for me. I would like to lose more (two other weights I was relatively long term at are around 240 and 225 but I was quite a bit younger then), but I will be compassionate with myself if I am here for a while. I still have a hard time believing I am not 308 anymore. *mind blown* Long road but worth it!

Hope you all have a good week!

Ok, another small loss but a loss.  There were some shenanigans despite me saying there wouldn't be.  Egg rolls in the cafeteria one day so I swapped out some usual lunch to have those but I got aggressive.  There was also cake.  and spontaneous delivery pizza.  I struggled with my headspace this week too.  I spent some time just wanting to throw in the towel altogether.  Snacked a little extra on those days but despite poor quality food, the calories weren't that bad.  I still had a deficit for the week.

It's nice to see a 1 in the weight but this sloooooww pace is taking it's toll.    Maybe this week is the week to break the plateau?  A shenanigan free week would help.

So, I had a *week*.  It started out pretty good, though it did also include a business trip.  Then mid week I found out my manager chose a new way to screw me over, long-term and very hard, which shot my stress levels through the roof (she gave me the worst possible performance rating, which messes up a great many things for me that I won't get into here) and set my equilibrium entirely out of whack for the rest of the week.  There were also multiple events for the kids this week messing up the usual schedule.  And also that time of the month arrived.

Given all that, I knew the number was going to be (artificially) way high, and I wasn't mentally equipped to see that this morning.  I am pretty sure it'll be at least somewhat more reasonable tomorrow, so I'm going to do my weigh-in this week on Tuesday.

And, because of all the crazy, I haven't had a chance to dive into the derby diet stuff yet.  So, that's still TBD as well.

Bit longer of an update since I was absent last week, sorry! Feel free to read my ramblings if you'd like

Spoiler

I am beyond happy with this. It's nearly impossible to go fully Paleo with the restaurants available to me within my company's daily food budget so there were likely traces of dairy and grains in nearly every meal. I did do my best to avoid dairy since I have a legitimate sensitivity to that while grains are simply a choice based on how I feel. I did stay focused and dedicated to it for the most part with one little splurge. I had a small slice of brownie because I was stressed out and I deserved to treat myself for handling the stress so well - it was a choice I gladly made and have no regrets about. I busted my butt and I was content with that small slice - I didn't need anything extravagant or oversized.

I did stick to workouts Monday-Thursday. I allowed myself to sleep in Friday since I knew I'd be up for travel - I didn't get home until about 230am Saturday morning. Had I woken up to work out, I would've been awake for 22 hours! I don't regret that decision, either, as I decided  more sleep for a clearer head and more focus to safely travel home was far more important that one workout. The Man got up and worked out before Fire Department meeting/training -  I allowed myself to skip both and rest. I truly needed it.

This week I have meals planned through Sunday with breakfast prepped through Saturday and lunch/dinner prepped through Wednesday. I'll prep Thursday through Saturday sometime on Wednesday.  We are going to a baseball game on Sunday so my meals are planned as a splurge - not a free for all, but a conscious decision to stray a bit from my decided way of eating and enjoying the baseball fare. This is a) to allow full enjoyment with the kids without being hangry because b) I guarantee I won't find any paleo-friendly foods at the game or any restaurants in the surrounding area we may eat at.

I started planning for next week already, too - the kids will be here for spring break so I need to plan normal dinners that I can adjust to my own way of eating (say by omitting one of the sides or separating my portion out before mixing non-paleo friendly ingredients). Workouts will be as normal, for me at least. He is off work but I'm assuming, based on past comments, he will continue with our routine so he doesn't risk losing that momentum.

The Man travels Friday to go get the kids so I'll get up and head out on a run at first light so I can be home before he leaves (I'm off work). Saturday I'll take the dogs out to the river trail since I'm sure the Man hasn't walked them much (I know of one time) in my absence. Next week I'll likely do the same but I'll have to get back an hop on the computer to finish out my work day.

You don't have to be perfect, you just have to be better than you were before. Do that every day and you will succeed.

I know there won’t be anymore cake or desserts until Easter so this month will be an awesome chance to reset.

This sounds like a very good thing. I'm still working through my Christmas chocolate, which will probably last until Easter, which is proving tricky right now.

Ok, well, I don't like it, but that's a lot less bad than I was afraid it was (still) going to be.  Still hoping to get below 170 by the end of the challenge.  It's a long shot, but I think there's still a chance, especially since I'm pretty sure at least some of this jump up is water weight I can lose pretty quickly.

Alrighty, now it's official, I've overtaken my previous low for the year and dropped all of the regain from a few weeks ago.  Truthfully I'm a little disappointed in this number--I was pretty disciplined this week and was hoping to at least track with my food math which predicted a loss of 1.1-- especially after Friday's weight check came in at 212.5 lbs.   Still down is down and I'll take what I can get.  I'll chalk this week up to getting glutened last weekend, which always messes with my shape and energy levels.

I'm currently at my lowest since July 2016.  Of course at that time I was in the 1,000-lb PL club, so while I'm (mostly) pleased with the progress I've made I'm not overly thrilled with my body composition.  I still need my waist to come back in at least two more inches.

I'd be lying to say I'm anything but super happy with this. I'm reliably below 195, even if just by a bit. Last week I did not training and kept my calories low and was able to not gain a bunch a weight. I have reliably seen over the past month that if I eat a "junk" meal I get a good 1.5 - 2 lbs bounce that starts  8 - 12 hours after the meal and lasts about 1.5 to 2 days. You can see three really. clear examples of this in my chart above, I'm just coming off of one now. So I expect tomorrow's weight to be down near the both of 195 into 194.

Starting yesterday I have pushed my daily calories to 2500 / day with the expectation that I'll have one "feast" day per week, a day where I'm over 3kcal. This will be my experiment as I start maintenance. I'm happy with my current look and think I'm at a healthy weight. I have to make weight at 195 in May so just maintaining. After that tournament I'll reassess. I may play around with weight over the summer or maybe I'll just leave it and live on.

Back to a new low after my birthday week, despite a load of birthday rocky road and a massive curry this week. I actually put a lot of effort in to keeping calories low in other areas though, and got within 2.3% of my weekly calorie goal, so I'm not too surprised to see that number on the scale.

Goal for this challenge was 162.4lbs, so I need to lose 1.6 this week to hit it. Game on!

Eh, not what I had hoped for, but with the way the week went, I'll take essentially staying the same.  I puffed up mid-week, and then got sick, so I haven't been exercising like I'd hoped to be, nor have I really had a chance to dive into my new diet plan yet.  It WILL happen this week, though.

In other, related, news, however, I took my monthly measurements on Wednesday, and my waist is down half an inch from the start of February!  My chest measurement was also down by 1.4 inches.  I am less excited by that, because it tends to fluctuate by up to +/- an inch depending on the time of the month, but there's a chance a bit of that reduction is real.  Either way, half an inch off my waist, which is my real goal far, far more than the number on the scale.  So that's pretty awesome.

I didn't weigh this morning so this is from yesterday. I'm content with it. Yesterday we went to a baseball game about 2 hours from home so we ate out. Both the Man and I were craving pizza - the kids are always happy with pizza - so we indulged since we were having to break our Way of Eating anyway. The cheese had me cramping and feeling absolutely horrible until nearly midnight. I think since cutting out cheese for the last couple of weeks made eating it again so much worse. Oops. Waking up at 430 to workout was already a challenge, and I knew I'd mentally be too hard on myself seeing the inevitable "up" on the scale due to all the bloating. This is progress - I know my limitations and I understand my triggers to unhealthy thoughts. I also know how my body reacts to certain foods and what to expect from it when I do eat those.

Kids are here for the week - I need to figure out what to do with several chicken breasts for lunch this week since I have those thawing for meal prep. I just baked some sweet potato slices as "toast" for avocado toast with egg for breakfasts this week for myself. Dinners will be different every night through Thursday as I'm eating with the kids (minus the non-paleo side such as rice or noodles) AKA protein + veg for me. They'll leave Friday morning so I'm on my own - will figure something out for the weekend.

Workouts are as usual - Stepdaughter is joining us to lift Monday-Thursday. She and the Man will sleep in Friday since they'll be traveling - I have to work so I'll likely run or hop on the Peloton.

You don't have to be perfect, you just have to be better than you were before. Do that every day and you will succeed.

That number is a lie and I know it.  Sunday's weigh in again was much lower than Monday's, by 2 pounds!  Sure, I had homemade buttermilk biscuits for brunch yesterday and yes I had chicken and waffle poutine for dinner last night.  I have all the confidence that this final week will have good results in line with the trend.

I usually hide all the noise and just keep Monday weigh ins but I kept this week's daily on the chart to show how today's weigh in is a lie.

I started looking that the detail and trends together a challenge or two ago and was surprised how useful I found them side-by-side. I think your current chart is really informative as you have built it.

Not super happy with this, but it feels accurate - the scale has been bouncing around between 176 and 177 all week. I was hoping I'd see a little more come off, but my eating wasn't the best this week so I guess this is where we are. Final goal for the challenge is 175 which is still possible (I saw 174 on the scale last week but apparently my body decided that was a fluke) so I guess we'll see how this next week goes.
