I did my measurements on Feb 1 and I've lost 3.25 inches total from waist, hips, and the biggest part of my belly (I call it the belly pooch but it's just below my belly button and just above my belt line. I have a little tire in that region all the way around me where the majority of my belly fat sits). Even if the scale isn't moving (or it seems to be going up, like it has over this past week) I know I'm moving in the right direction.

That's a big difference in measurements, congrats!

The trail is 6 miles long so plenty long enough for me to do an out and back on relatively flat terrain (give my legs a rest from these hills) and not be pacing back and forth along a 1 mile route by my house (I will lose interest and give up).

I'm exactly the same; nothing I hate more than running loops of a small park or round and round my neighbourhood. Out and backs are great, or one big loop for the whole run.

Weigh-in happening on Friday. No excuses!

If I don't show up, kick me until I do.

Was going to give you a kick, but you beat me here by 2 hours. Must be a timezone thing ;) .

Your numbers are good too; that's good progress over the last month overall even with a little uptick in the last couple of weeks.

sigh progress is ongoing. Been tired this week so less walking. Apparently makes a big difference. At least its down.

going to try and weigh sunday. See how that goes.

walking makes a huge difference for me too! But its good to rest too, especially after a kick butt month. How are you feeling now? Ready to kick butt again?

1/14 - 225.5

1/22- 227

1/28- 230

2/5- 226.5

2/11- 224.5

According to our spreadsheet, I am 45% on my way to the goal. If I can lose a pound a week, I'll be in the 219 range, which is my goal for this challenge!

Last week, I cleaned up my diet, and this week I maintained that, relaxing my grip on it a little bit to have a little more fun so I'm not sour about it. I'm weighing in today because it's Super Bowl Sunday! I'm eating nachos and wings tonight. :D That won't wreck my diet, but it will wreck tomorrow's weigh in. ?

This week I also upped my exercise to 5 days of walking, from 20-50 minutes per day. I also did a strength training workout. Next week, I'd like to add another strong workout to the week and hold the rest steady and see how it goes. The last two weeks were pretty big changes, and I'd like to make sure my feet are steady so I can move forward steadily.

Have you been having trouble sleeping?  Tired weeks always seem to mess with my scale numbers even when I am able to keep up my exercise regimen.

12-31:  218.7 lbs  (start)

01-07:  218.5 lbs  (-0.2)

01-14:  216.5 lbs  (-2.0)

01-21:  216.3 lbs  (-0.2)

01-28:  213.4 lbs  (-2.9)

02-04:  215.6 lbs  (+2.2)

02-11:  212.7 lbs  (-2.9)

Alrighty, back on course after my break--I've completely recovered the spike and even improved on it a little.  With five weeks to go there's no way I'm going to hit my original, admittedly exuberant goal of 18.7 lbs, so I've revised it down to 12.0.  That means I'm half way at halftime.  B)

This week I didn't do a single dedicated workout of any kind--instead I just stayed massively busy in the evenings working on projects in my shop and kept a very tight rein on my eating.  I'm going to continue the tight rein, but now that the challenge is kicking off I'll be hitting my exercise goals each week which should help me get to 206.7 on time.  That'll mark 40 lbs lost since respawning last September!

I woke up with the beginning of a cold. Which explains why ive felt worn out this week (long story, short version: my immune system sucks).

fingers crossed it will pass quickly and i wont be ill for 2 weeks with it

Yes. Sleep not great at the moment. Keep waking up 4am for no bloomin’ reason.

thanks for that, makes me feel a bit better about it

01/29 - 02/04: 200.8

02/05 - 02/11: 199.4

Fun fact about this week, 199.3 is the Mean, Median, and Mode. I had a low weigh in at 197.4 so I pulled my lowest and highest weights to see if it changed my mean,  nope. 199.4 feels like a really accurate read for my weight right now.

I'm still losing more weight than math would dictate so I'm happy about that. Presumably my actual daily basic burn is about my Benedict Harris calculation. I'll work on figuring out that number once I get to maintenance. My Whoop was intended to solve that but I can't say it succeeded at that. In the top chart below you can see the two lines converging. The blue line is my calculated caloric need and as I lose weight my Benedict-Harris says I need fewer calories (presumably true) so that is the cause of the lines getting closer and closer.

Not surprised to see my weight going up this week - it was a pretty heavy one including a poker night with friends featuring a huge amount of beer and takeaway pizza. I ended the week almost 4,000kcal over my weekly target (so about 22% more than planned).

Time to get back on track with this, and all being well that should be within reach this week.

I'm still treading water for the third week in a row, which is why I joined this PVP - hoping for some motivation to reboot the scale. With the new challenge starting today, I'm going to ramp up on exercise (I got a bit lazy at the end of last week) and try focus more on macros. I haven't paid too much attention any numbers except CICO, so I'm going to try harder to hit my protein and fiber goals, and dial down the carbs. I know if anyone here has some go-to recipes or snacks for low carb/high fiber but I'm all ears!

Starting Weight: 265.1

W1 Jan 8: 264.1 (-1.0)

W2 Jan 15: 263.5 (-0.6)

W3 Jan 22: 262.3 (-1.2)

W4 Jan 29: 262.6 (+0.3)

W5 Feb 5: 263.7 (+1.1)

W6 Feb 12: 262.6 (-1.1)

Finally recovered and got back to week 4's weigh.  I'm happy about being back to losing a pound a week but this week felt more like losing 2 since it went up before it went down.  I can't get caught up worrying about catching up so I'm just focusing on staying within my calorie budget and getting my workouts in for that 1 pound a week.   More would be great but if I start to look for more then I'm disappointed with 1 and spiral.  Nope Nope Nope.

Up a bit this week (269.6 lbs currently, was 267.x last week). I am not surprised by this as I ate a lot of bread over the last three days which is unusual for me and always leads to some water retention. I have also realized that 265 was my set point for many years as an adult, so there is a possibility that I might be slowing down as I get closer to that, too? We will see. I am also doing a little bit of light lifting the past week and maybe that is contributing to a bit of weight gain with the healing/inflammation aspect of muscle repair. Probably not a ton, but it might be a factor. Overall I am okay with seeing the numbers bounce in a way that I haven’t been in a long time and that is good news for the mental resilience part of this journey.

The thing I wrote on the spreadsheet was my "easy" goal. I have a little further to go so no changes at this time. I'm going to hold at 2200 calories through the end of the challenge unless I hit 190, which should be unlikely. At that time I'll kick my calories up to 2500 for several weeks. I will be trying to find my maintenance calories going forward. I think it'll be in the ballpark of 2800. Then it'll be monitored maintenance through May. At that time... I don't know. I've kind of exceeded any expectations I really had for myself when I started this a year ago. Ascetically I'm happy than I thought I'd really ever be. So, I guess I get to focus on training while actually eating the calories I'm supposed to.

Congratulations on going sub-200!

Thanks. It's been 10 years and even then I was just there for a couple weeks. It's been over two decades since I was reliably under 200 lbs.

I probably missed this upthread, but what's a Whoop?

thanks. Data stuff is my profession so I have no excuses.

A whoop is an activity monitor. At some point I need to write up a longer post just describing my experience but, if you want a step counter, there are cheaper ones that are as good that are out there. I had a really specific use case (The most jiujitsu friendly activity monitor) but unless you have the use case, I wouldn't recommend it.

Up a little bit this week.  That said, I had a LOT of life happening this week, and sticking to my diet plan just wasn't possible for a couple days this week.  With that in mind, I am up WAY less than I expected to be.  Especially since I ate a giant sandwich and a giant (oatmilk) milkshake yesterday.  I didn't two days in a row off plan, though, and I was able to get right back to it after things went "wrong."  I am quite pleased with where I am, and the progress I am making in being able to stick to my plan when life happens.

If you have a way to reliably measure your body composition then you might also look at Katch-McArdle as you get leaner.  Since it uses BF% as an input it doesn't tend to fall with mere bodyweight like the other formulas.  When I was working out steadily I found it to be more in-line with what I was experiencing in terms of weight loss and energy levels relative to TDEE outputs.

Strong work!  I hope to get back down in the 190s with you before too long.  For me it was almost 9 years ago, and I was only sub-200 for a few months.

I know if anyone here has some go-to recipes or snacks for low carb/high fiber but I'm all ears!

My go-to foods for fiber were always beans and avocadoes.  I wouldn't say they're especially low carb, but with the extra protein (beans) and fat (avocado) those carbs tend to be pretty slow.

What is CICO?

Calories-in, Calories-out.  That's mainly what I've been doing, too.

He has showed you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of

you but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?
