Harriet
3 hours ago, sarakingdom said: Cut to avoid too much clutter here, and also medical discussion involving weird symptoms. Hide contents Yeah, it can take forever. Heck, until very recently, they thought this was so rare that they never diagnosed it. People with obvious and severe symptoms would take years, up to a decade, to get their diagnosis. And that's when doctors knew what the symptoms were, but just didn't think it was likely. There are also a lot more atypical presentations than doctors tend to recognize. It used to be that one of the diagnostic criteria was emaciation, because they were used to diagnosing it when the damage to the intestines was so severe that the patient was deeply malnourished. So they assumed weight loss was a key symptom, not their failure, and you couldn't have it without unexplained weight loss. The insistence on diarrhea strikes me as the same thing. There are certain skin conditions or mouth lining conditions that are super indicative, for one thing. They're obvious symptoms. Insisting on a certain level of intestinal damage before you diagnose seems off. Particularly when leaving it untreated raises some health risks. So in general, I'm inclined to believe the doctors with the more aggressive diagnosis. They're more likely to be using current science. She was also a specialist who took weeks to decide, while the naysayers were GPs who took five seconds. 3 hours ago, sarakingdom said: Hide contents If nothing else, it just seems weird for them to tell you to ignore something that's constantly triggering the immune system. Antibodies mean it's being detected and treated as a threat. The fact that it doesn't seem (and that word is often doing some heavy lifting, with celiac) to be attacking your body to fight off the gluten menace doesn't mean it's a great use of your immune system's resources or that constant high immune system activity is great. It has more important things to do than fight your food, and finite resources. It's like walking around with your body constantly fighting off the flu. That's not great for anyone, but you in particular have enough hidden load on your health. That was kind of what I thought. Antibodies maybe not the best sign that a food loves me back. 3 hours ago, sarakingdom said: It's probably the compromise I'd use on your place. Sea-to-sky
Slept strangely last night. Crashed out at 9:30pm, woke up at what i suspect is about 3-4am ish 😑not ideal. Cumulatively i have had 9hrs though, so do feel a little better mental energy wise. Just also like ive been run over a tad. Gah, so annoying. parents are going on hols today up country and for some reason the weather picked today to snow..a lot…Right in the area they are going to be travelling through. Not ideal, so now i am trying not to worry about that combo. Hopefully it will be ok 😬 they’re packing extra cold weather gear incase they get stuck. Got some mando practice in. Blackberry blossom. Might have posted it before (cant remember) going well, but the stretch to the 6th fret on the G string still trips me up every time. So annoying. 5 Quote the creative spelling comes as standard. Hormone cycles suck. almost at the end of book 5 in the knight series by a.j.sherwood. One more and hen i’ll be into the new book series. keep meaning to write about this and forgetting. Since ive been buying second hand romance novels i noticed there seems to be a tradition of making shorthand reviews on the first page. I have 3 books with them in now. This is the newest and most extensive. Its written in at least 2 different peoples hand writing. from what i can gather the shorthand reads thus: pas = passionate mp good = male protagonist good gt = no idea about this one, any ideas? theres clearly a particular way to write them though, as the other ones i have are also written in the same condensed wording. its fun that this is clearly a thing many people do though. Possibly it was the only way to get a review on such books before the internet and places like good reads. Always fun to find them though. 7 Quote the creative spelling comes as standard. Enjoy! Just the series my challenge is based on. I haven't really had time for pleasure reading, apart from the latest novella in that series, because it finally came in at the library. Rivers of London does have an unusual relationship arc over the series, though no individual book is very relationship-centric. (Maybe some the two latest ones, because of the direction it took.) Despite that, and the fact that all the books are perfectly acceptable for YA readers, it does manage to earn the ruder 'gt' rating in one or two books. Which is actually a big tell for a male author (and a rare positive one), and I feel more reviews should lead with that. 1 Quote I felt like I could run forever, like I could smell the wind and feel the grass under my feet, and just run forever. Sea-to-sky
Managed to get a short walk in yesterday. Slept like a log last night even if i did stay up a little late trying to finish a book, (really annoying when you have to stop 7 pages from the end). On my 2nd Rebecca F kenney book in a row. Love her writing, (do read the trigger warnings though if you give her a try. Her main characters tend to be villains) been doing some more to the bujo, finally stumbled across a vaguely archaic looking lettering style that i like and feel i can write with a brush pen (though its probubly designed as a font, so i am winging it a tad). so far attempts are fun but middling. More practice needed. this is last months water and habit trackers. went ok. Some habits are going well. Need to remember to pick up the mando more. managed to stick to most of them apart from when i was ill. So far am managing to avoid snacking on junk, which i am so happy bout as thats a downfall of mine when im not feeling 100% energy wise. need to make soup today. So hard to ignore when im craving sugar. feeling better today but going to take it slow and try not to push myself too much. So easy to overdo it when you start feeling better.
