basically I am looking for what led you to where you are and why do you do what you do

for instance, goblins are your favored enemy because your favorite uncle's farm was overrun by goblins and you found his body hanging bloody and naked from the windmill the next day...

Favored Enemy is a Ranger Feat.

Nah, I was just bitching about the feat to bitch....its a great feat but a large range of specific enimies always makes it hard for me to narrow down when I build a ranger.

I.... want to start writing, but I have no idea what... do I write in first person? describe what I want to do?

 

what about questions I have for you Patrick? e.g. If my character remembers who this Shanasta is or where she is? (the way the naga-creatures acted they seemed to imply I do, but if I can't even remember my own name...).

Do I ask those on the play thread? or in this one?

I sent PWallace a message, but it occurs to me I ought to let everyone know I made a boo boo.  

 

In my opening story, I made an action of trying to open the door, and assumed the outcome (locked) based on the previous story elements rather than rolling for it.  

 

Leave it to me to screw up the first post.  lol.

Hee, it's a learning process.  Honestly, for stuff like that, typically the GM rolls it.

 

I've never done a play by post before, but I play on MUSH's which is sort of the same thing, but in real time. (everyone is logged into the same place, but takes turn posing their parts.)    We always say, 'Pose intent, but not outcome' for the parts that are characters trying to do something.   

 

We'll have to see how it works in a by post way, but that's how I was going to approach it!
