The resistances are how much tension the band provides at various stretch levels (so if it's fully stretched, it's going to be close to 65 lbs of weight resistance for the black one, and 35 lbs for the red one).

This basically means what its equivalent in weight lifting would be. So for using it as a help in doing chin-ups, it's basically the amount it will "help" in lowering the amount of body weight you lift.
So if you use both, your chin-ups will be with a reduced weight of up to 100 lbs (but they probably won't stretch that far).

Progression is then made by doing the chin-ups using both until you can do enough reps, and then only using the strong one until you can do enough reps, and then only the lighter one, and finally without the bands.

OK thanks! I'm going to go for the purple one then (despite being a few quid more!) as that should (hopefully) give enough assistance for starting out, but means it'll be usable for other exercises when I no longer need assistance (which WILL happen :D)

On goal #8 (the crafty projects half done) I have actually well and truly finished my hoverboard footstool! (pics in spoiler below) this has been SO many years in the making - I think I bought the skateboard deck in Jan 2021?!

I've also dyed two pairs of trousers that were too light - I did bucket method and obviously didn't stir well enough as they've come out kinda streaky, but one pair is snakeskin pattern so I think it works, and the other didn't massively take the colour anyway so I'll see what it looks like when I wash and dry them. I put two old white tshirts in too, so they're both a pale turquoise (with streaks) but also fine as they were 'house' tshirts anyway.

 

I'm really pleased with the hoverboard, and it really SHOULD have given me some Happy Feels but at the moment it's being outweighed by the general Blue Feels I've got at the mo, as well as not really having anyone round at my house ever to show it off to.

Side point on goal #3, tl;dr I really need to stop trying to track this bcuz stressing me out

FB seems to have essentially ended the situation but without any clear comms on it. Obv I'm having general feels of rejection and confusion on this (not helping my mood) and overthinking reasoning - currently swinging between either they just massively lost interest or they got too interested, and given they're ENM married, that's an issue. However, who tf knows because no actual comms...

New challenge, some updates on the year's roadmap!

 

Goal #1: Chin up - the assistance band feels like I'm doing 'more' towards this, so that's good - I shall continue!

Goal #2: Tracking - checked in this morning, all measurements pretty stable, except I seem to have lost a few cms on my belly*

Goal #3: Bang - not officially tracking but... I am still ofc totally tracking (I'm halfway through my goal and less than halfway through the year 😏) Fun fact, FWB situ was bcuz they took a break, but didn't think it would be helpful to tell me. Has at least apologised for being a pr!ck.

Goal #4: Will - still waiting for confirmation on a question on the power of attourney, I chased it up this week though.

Goal #5: Job - there are some new roles coming out in the next couple of months that I'm very interested in, I've been saying to people that if I don't get one of those roles it might be time to have a massive change and quit the NHS. It's been 18yrs and it just doesn't bring me any of the interest, learning or 'feeling like I matter' any more.

Goal #6: Weight - 10st 13lbs this morning, which I will very much take as a win seeing as the last week has been very overeaty!

Goal #7: Books - I've done the sort but still have a lot on my shelf so I'm going to add something about reading instead of phone before bed in this challenge methinks

Goal #8: PhDs - doing well on this; I've got the bra that I'm in progress with, and obv adding side quests as they occur to me (I've just made some pins for our quartet bcuz they're cute). The 'pile' currently has:

  • a dress that was my grandmas that I fitted in, but never managed to get it to 'hang' right so will need some considering to make it wearable
  • a pair of exciting dungarees that I was going to widen the legs for, except I'm less bothered about them now, but they were £20 in a charity shop so I feel I need to keep them(!)
  • a pair of excellent royal blue flares that I fully pocketed, except when I wore them they got 'baggy' and shapeless... Basically I should probably give them back to charity as they don't fit, but I put all that effort into putting the pockets in...
  • I got a zip to attach to my winter coat, obv this is a lot less of a priority as it's warmer now but it would be nice to do this before the end of the year

 

*Could I have found the 'one quick trick to reduce belly fat' and it being, spend 10 years actually working on eating better, doing more exercise (weight training specifically) and consistency...? Who can I tell to make my millions?!

Slight update on the Goal That Is Not A Goal (#3) - I've decided I'm too good to accept medicore bangs. As such, the three 'meh' people who've been vaguely on the scene are not getting any more, so it's new people and as and when FWB happens to happen only.
