I have chosen to replace my YAYOG workout with my sister-in-law's daily swimming/walking routine for the week. I am doing my best to be good, but it is very hard to do on vacation, so I am choosing to not guilt myself with not working out, but to instead look at the great side of the bike ride that was bruise inducing yesterday, the swim in the riptide that I survived this morning and the walk that capped it all off this afternoon. Match that with a fantastic grilled salmon, grilled pineapple and salad, and I'm managing to whip my life into shape even while on vacation! I couldn't do legs straight at all - I can go up but when going down I just went BAM! ...lol can't control the way down at all. On the other hand, legs bent is doable, but I still feel that I'm using my heels to propel me up >,< I don't know how *not* to use my heels... I found that I was relying more on my legs when it was hurting my hands to hold a chair in that position. So I ended up putting a small towel across the chair underneath where my palms hit the chair and found it gave a little bit of support so I could focus on my arms. RxLady Posted October 1, 2014 Report Share Posted October 1, 2014 Week 4, Day 2 Done this morning! And my legs feel like jello, yay! For the split squats and side lunges I decided to do one leg at a time for the max number of reps I could do (non-dominant leg first) and then matching that number with the dominant leg. My legs are pretty even, which is nice. Before I was alternating legs to complete one rep at a time (one rep = both sides) instead of burning one leg out, then the other. I found this makes the exercise much more difficult, which is good I think. I am still good at squats, so I will continue to increase the pause at the bottom. Today at 3 seconds, by the end I was feeling it much more, so I think somewhere between a 4-5 second pause in the future will really kick it up a notch (BAM!). heh. These were easier than they looked, but I was definitely tired at the end of 36 reps on each side. Side Lunges 12/12/12. Squats 12/12/12. I did 3 second holds on the 2nd and 3rd set to increase the difficulty a bit.One Legged Calf Raises 12/12/12. I swapped these for the Romanians because I am convinced they are a major cause of my back issues right now. I think it's the gripping of the towel that makes my hands sore (maybe they're just a bit weak overall). But I am looking into some gloves for a little extra protection, so we'll see how that goes. I ran 2 miles (10:44/mi average, new PB) before doing this workout so I felt the burn in every single rep. I really wasn't sure I'd finish every rep today but I pushed through the pain. These were tough, especially the third set. I have come a long way on these since when I started doing YAYOG just 3 weeks ago!LMI's - 12/12/12.Towel Curls - 12/12/12. I didn't do a great job of these.
