1 pencil case full of crayons I've had since elementary school - I've had this damn container since my very first "craft box" meant to store art supplies, and it's time to let it go.

Sumi-e ink set which seemed like a good idea at the time

Quill pen that also sounded awesome

Rusty exacto knife

Puffy fall sticker things

Wooden dachshund figures for scrapbooking

Stamper thing I'm not into

Pieces of an art project I did in college that I have no idea why I still have

Day 22

 

1 head scratcher thing

4 Tokidoki pegacorn that I absolutely love but don’t need

1 flyer for an art thing I forgot about going to

2 business cards for things I forgot about

1 thing half-empty pocket lotion

1 well-wishes cards I love, but need to let go of

1 cable + 2 light bars I bought to program for one of my DH’s races but ended up not messing with because they were too much trouble

Yesterday, I finally got all the clothes to the thrift store. I thought about taking a picture of the hoard (I did say I would) but I just wanted it all gone. I actually had a few pangs of regret, for clothes that were gifts and stuff. It was weird.

 

Today, I'll start on my craft room. It's probably the second hardest after clothes. Maybe third hardest, because books. There are supplies and half-finished bits and bobs to toss.

Day 22

Cleaned out misc stuff that's collected in the garage since the summer clean out. The other great part about this purging is also putting things I'm keeping back in their places. This has been awesome!

HOBOY ok so I just got back from camp, and I don't think I'm going to try and play catch-up, I'm just going to jump right back in with Day 22.

Got rid of 175 things today.  That takes me through day 28.  An acquaintance of mine, (and fellow "yarn nut") was driving through the parking lot as I was pulling an armful of yarn out of my trunk (to give to the school).  Her eyes lit up, and I just handed it over to her. I've had a hard time letting go of it because it's a really nice yarn... I just hated the color.  I just basically handed over about $150 dollars worth of yarn, and because she really appreciated the quality of it and actually liked it, it felt good to let it go.  

 

Still not making much of a dent in the pile in the garage. :{.  and there are still rooms that I haven't even started to clear out yet!  There are a couple of big things to go, like a dresser, and some chairs and an old TV that will help make things less overwhelming.  I just keep reminding myself that the mess will all be gone soon... .

 

This is so worth it!

I have stuck my toe into the chasm that is the catchall closet.

Sounds like you're doing a great job! I foisted off a pile of art supplies to a friend, because I just don't sketch or paint anymore. That was some nice paper and oil, but like your friend, her eyes got so big and excited when she dug thru my stash. I think that's a great by-product of decluttering; our nice things find new homes that will appreciate them.

Okay, so someone is - as of last count - 7 days behind now, and will be 8 before I get the chance to make a meaningful contribution once again.

 

I'm down, but I'm not out.  I'll get back in this thing and start playing catch up!  Sorry for the drop-off, folks!

Whew! It took me five days to get caught up. I'd almost get there and then I'd slip back again... But, I did it! 

 

I did have to back off from the sentimental items to do it, though. I resorted to the office and kitchen to get my quotas in as there has just been too much difficult in my life the last week or so to try and do that on top of it all. I'll see how the next day or two goes, and then see if I am up for tackling the really tough stuff or whether I will keep working in the office and kitchen a while longer. I can keep this game going quite a bit past the 30 days I suspect. I haven't even gotten to the arts and crafts hoard or THE PIT yet.

 

Beware, fellow packratters, and learn from my example. Too many rangery, nerdy hobby explorations, several different careers and business ventures, and 57 years on the planet make for A LOT of minimizing to do!

23 items yesterday was a massive pain and today is not different.  Ugh!  11 more items to find to get till I hit 24 items.
