Hi,

My name is Scott 37 y/o male, 193 cm, 94.5 kg from London UK

I started a fasting [5:2] diet back in April 2013 and lost a lot of fat ~10kg and started getting illnesses toward the end of 2013 had tonsillitis back to back and loads of secondary infections, basically I was ill for the second half of last year in some way or other.

Not that I'm blaming the fast diet, far from it, it was the catalyst for my current position. I was doing cardio twice a week and decided I was losing too much weight and wasn't that happy with my body so I decided to start strength training around the start of November on the 5x5 protocol

I'm a total n00b to fitness in general and was quite confused with all the contradictory information out there and I'm still finding my way now, I came off of the 5:2 diet as I was lead to believe that all my gains would literally fall off of me if I didn't eat every three hours, coming off of a fasting diet straight onto having to consume ~200 g of protein a day was quite a paradigm shift but one I was willing to make to get more healthy.

Knowing the health benefits of fasting I was quite keen to have that element of my old lifestyle back but couldn't work out the best way to fit it in around my training three times a week, then I discovered Leangains [by Martin Berkhan] which enabled me to fast and keep gaining lean muscle mass whilst losing fat and not eating every three hours

After recovering from a tonsillectomy mid January I was ready to start the Leangains protocol properly on 27th January, four weeks in I feel stronger and look a great deal leaner, my nutrition is slowly getting into shape too

I feel my journey just beginning
