Daily Dares [3/30/2016 - 4/29/2016]

3 minutes of bouncing completed with EC. You start to feel that in your calves after a while.

Felt like I was back in a 90's mosh pit, just needed Billy Corgan telling me he was still just a rat in a cage.

Done with EC :D Initially figured I'd break it down into little sets for every time I went to boil the kettle, but I got into a rhythm when I started and decided to blast it all out there and then.

Current Big Fat Hairy Goals:  Hip to Waist Ratio down to 88%.  Capable of 50 pushups, 100 situps, 20 pull-ups in one massive superset.  Able to do a bodyweight bench press.  Run 10K 1/week for 1 month.  Earn 2nd Degree Black Belt.

 

Why?  Because I want to model the kind of health and strength that I want my girls to have when they grow up.

Bouncing done, but no EC. Were we supposed to do this with our feet flat, or on the balls of our feet?

Just checking, for today's pushups will it be alright to substratum a build up type of pushup, as in incline or knee pushups, instead of regular full pushups? No mention I could see on the status, so I figured I'd ask :-)

If not I'm gonna have to skip today, I tried the regular version and it hurt quite a bit...

Hmmm. Let's do it this way - do whatever push-up variation you need to in order to get the point for the dare safely, but only take extra credit if you do the full push-ups.

Phew!  Website fixed!

 

Yes, yesterday and today done with EC.  Found the wide pushups to be easier than regular ones...

I personally don't think there should be ways to substitute dares. This is a challenge and the exercises cover a wide spectrum of difficulty; some of them will be easy, some of them will be (too) hard. I think that's part of the appeal. If there is a way to do easier exercises, the challenge aspect will be gone, since I can just substitute difficult stuff with easier stuff that I can do and get the base point every day.

If there is a way to do easier exercises, the challenge aspect will be gone, since I can just substitute difficult stuff with easier stuff that I can do and get the base point every day.

That's a really good point (and something that never occurred to me until now...), and I actually do agree. Once I'm back in front of an actual computer I'll scrub uesterday's point and content myself with the knowledge that I tried (and have something to work towards!).

Calf raises done with EC. Funnily enough, they were done on my break at work while I was replying to this thread... Daily points also sorted to reflect my slip yesterday.

Calf raises completed with EC. Got them in at the end of karate training, so was nice and warmed up by then

Wanted to post yesterday but forums blah blah blah.

 

Completely forgot to do the bounces on Tuesday. Quite annoying, because they looked kind of fun.

 

Wide grip push-ups were done last night. Got to 24 and couldn't get any further in that set, so had to split off the last 6 and miss the EC :( .

 

Will get the calf raises sorted tonight.

You guys are awesome! I'm totally cool with that. I hesitated to allow variations in the first place, but I know a lot of people struggle with pushups and I didn't want to be a jerk about it. Since you feel the same way, I'll just add "no variations" to the challenge guidelines from now on.

Calf raises - because life doesn't have enough pain already.

 

60 seconds in fire.

90 seconds in numb.

120 seconds in and I'm wondering if I'll be able to walk downstairs tomorrow morning, but done with EC!
