Technically it’s Carolina Beach, but that’s close no?  I don’t think we’ll be doing much besides sitting on the beach since Slothboy is too young for the vaccine.

I’d be happy to buy you dinner or a drink if you’re around.  I can’t promise I won’t be too socially awkward to actually talk though.  I can promise not to serial kill you though

Yeah, that's like 15 minutes from where I live, lol.  Sitting on the beach is a solid plan.  It's been very very hot.  You would be the first nerd I met in real life, so just let me know when you're around.  And don't worry about talking.  The length of my posts and the amount that I talk are about the same.  We will make it work ;)

June 28, 2021 Monday

I went to a retina specialist in the morning, which took a surprisingly long time.  After a bunch of scans he spent at least half an hour shining a spotlight into my dilated pupils while he focused the light with a magnifying glass.  I’m surprised my retina didn’t sizzle like an ant.  It rained in the afternoon and I didn’t do much of note.

*I had the equivalent to a stroke in my retina and I had to have it checked out. It was pronounced “probably benign”, but I have to have an angiogram later and see the retina guy yearly.

I’ll try not to be the old guy who spends all his time talking about my ailments.  But I have to admit, the increased stroke risk that goes with this encouraged me to pick up the bells again.

June 29, 2021 Tuesday

I did the S&S warmup at 8kg and 6 X7/7* KB snatch at 12 kg.
*I’m not sure I’m writing this correctly; I did 7 snatches on the left, recovered and then 7 on the right and repeated that 6 times.
The bell felt lighter than I expected.  I’ll probably be at 16kg soon.  Recovery between sets was sloooow and I lost form after only 6 rounds.

I puttered around the house a little bit, but didn’t do anything else of note.

Peace out nerd friends.

Really glad to see you back around these part again.  Also glad you are feeling a bit better and I hope the meds don't end up being something you have to take long term.

Yes.  I was a terrible dad for several months.  I’d work, take a nap until dinner, and go to bed.  After the vaccine I was able to stay awake again.

I'm glad the vaccine helped a bit.. I've felt like a terrible mom too over the last year, but we did what we could right?

June 30, 2021 Tuesday

Today I went to the funeral of one of my students.  He was hit by a drunk driver while skateboarding.  The funeral was good, as far as those things go.

In the afternoon I sawed some logs ? that we’ve had lying around for a while.  I’m calling that a functional workout.  Since I’m no longer used to moving around it was surprisingly difficult.

Peace out nerd friends.

I have been living around ESL people for way too long.  I read this sentence and my first reaction was "no need for the extra ED on the end there, 'saw' is already past tense" :D

July 1, 2021 Thursday

Where did June go?  We are leaving on our trip on Monday and besides getting ready for that we have to ready the house for the contractors.  I’m a little less efficient than @EricMN so I’m kind of freaking out.

I did S&S - warm up with a 8kg bell, one hand swings 5X10/10 at 16kg and I skipped the get ups because fuck them that’s why.

The neighborhood has started a byo meat grilling event that happens every three weeks or so.  I wasn’t looking forward to it because people, but it was fun. We mostly talked about National Parks but they didn’t believe that I literally ran into a bear while trail running at night.  Which just happens to be the very last time that I trail ran at night.

Peace out nerd friends.

I'm proud of you for napping, and doubly proud it was on a hammock.

I used to love TGU's.Remember when I did them for something like a year, almost daily?? Then I started to hate them too. Now I'm back where once in a while I enjoy cranking out a few. Maybe you should sub out presses instead. I'm pretty much sick of swings, and am subbing out Farmer carries instead.

Enjoy your trip!
