bigm141414
Hey I'm reading GoT too! Second read through the series so I can get Dance of Dragons. So for me I have : Game of Thrones by GRRM Starting Strength by Mark Rippetoe Modern Nonlinear Equations by Thomas Saaty, because who doesn't enjoy a little recreational math reading 2 Quote "Pull the bar like you're ripping the head off a god-damned lion" - Donny Shankle Link to comment
bananandrea
I just finished The Hunger Games- Suzanne Collins. I am always reading the Bible. And I am reading The Cat Who Moved A Mountain-Lilian Jackson Braun. It's a sweet book about cats that solve mysteries. 2 Quote Make today your someday~~~"It's a lifestyle - train like there's no finish line~~~"I hated every minute of training, but I said, don't quit. Mama T
@bigm141414 awesome on GoT! i haven't watched the show - i figured i want to read through everything before i watch it, so i can set my own imagery and compare it to that. i haven't actually started yet - i'm hoping to crack it open this week though!@bananandrea The Hunger Games = so addicting. I think I read the entire series in a week because i could NOT put down the books. I would also recommend the Maze Runner trilogy if you liked that series. Just as intense, and the 3rd book comes out next month! And a cat that solves mysteries?? I'm definitely intrigued... may have to reserve me a copy from the library! cracked_belle
Game of Thrones by george R. R. MartinThe Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Steig LarssonI tried starting "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo", but I just couldn't fall into it. granted, I think I was reading a different translation than the recently famous one. meanwhile, I'm currently reading the following:David Wong - "John Dies at the End"Jerold J. Kreisman - "I Hate You, Don't Leave Me"Terri Cheney - "Manic" and I just finished in the last week:Tamora Pierce - "Alana: The First Adventure"Mark Dunn - "Ella Minnow Pea" 1 Quote there is never a sudden revelation, a complete and tidy explanation for why it happened, or why it ends, or Why or Who you are. you want one and I want one, but there isn't one. it comes in bits and pieces, and you stitch them together wherever they fit, and when you are done you hold yourself up, and still there are holes and you are a rag doll, invented, imperfect. and yet you are all that you have, so you must be Enough. there is no other way. ― Marya Hornbacher, Wasted: A Memoir of Anorexia and Bulimia Link to comment
SKP
I need to reread the first 4 books of the GoT series so that I can get to Dance of Dragons, but it's such a tremendous task that I'm finding it intimidating I might just use it as an excuse to watch the series and then continue to read where it leaves off. SKP
The Power of Habit was great! I didn't really have a good strategy for habit change but the author lays it out really clearly. It's not all about personal habit change, though, it's also about the habits of larger groups and how changing one small thing can make a really big difference. He uses a lot of case studies to explain concepts and the book flew by. I'm liking the $100 start up as well, pretty much for the same reasons. Lots of case studies and good writing make the subject matter accessible. 1 Quote "Not all those who wander are lost." Current 6 week challenge Link to comment
JarrodCL
Hmm, nothing interesting right now I crammed in a much needed dose of horror, fantasy and sci-fi during the last few weeks of my holiday. Right now, there are only two books for me to read: CCDA 640-864 Official Cert GuideTheodore Roosevelt; an Autobiography by Theodore RooseveltNothing terribly exciting, I'm afraid. Right now I'm reading:-Crime and Punishment (Dostoevsky)-...And Another Thing (Colfer)-Pillars of the Earth (Follett)-Good Omens (Pratchett and Gaiman)...And I feel like I'm missing one. I'm also going to read American Gods for the challenge. Since I have a copy and haven't read it yet, now seems like as good a time as any. BeckyBuckeye
I'm just about to finish The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing: The Pox Party by M.T. Anderson, which is technically a young adult book, but still really engaging, talking about slavery in a really different and interesting way. Also listening to my first Stephen King, The Shining, in the car, I'm close-ish to the end (please no spoilers, I've never seen the movie) and loving it, although I've never read horror before. The Great Gatsby is next on my list, but I have to take a trip to the library after I finish my book-on-cd, meaning I'll end up with god knows what like always, haha. Quote Link to comment
