Totally expected increase after letting completely off the gas last week.  We had our holiday party at work on Friday, which I followed with a full weekend of free-rein that included daily pints of Häagen-Dazs, extra sodas, and way more food than I needed.  TBH I'm relieved that it only went up that much.  I should be able to knock it back down under 220 this week.

I'm down 1.8 pounds this week, which feels awesome. It feels good to be back on track. I'm trying to plan and prioritize the festive foods. Mom made a loaf of sticky gingerbread and it is delicious. So I'm planning for that, instead of eating candy. I'm also looking forward to eating gingerbread cookies. I LOVE GINGERBREAD

Great wekk!  Enjoy all the gingerbread!

That was Saturday's weigh in as well as today's! We are carb cycling every other day and it's making us realize how sugary and carb-filled our diet is. No wonder we couldn't get enough protein in our diets! It's a learning process. Last week was M-W-F-Sun low carb while Tues-Thurs-Sat were normal eating (not really tracking anything except hunger cues). This week it's Tues-Thurs-Sun (the Man travels Fri/Sat to get kids this coming weekend and the weekend before New Years to get/drop off kiddos with their mom - not forcing him to try to travel and go low carb so we pushing it out a day - works out Christmas day is normal eating now!) I might, since I'll be home alone both Fridays, do a second low carb day since I feel so much better/less bloated on those days. Plus gives me a reason to try out new recipes to see if I think they'll work with the entire family.

Trial and error is ensuring the Man gets enough calories - his run days happen to coincide with low-carb days so I'm working hard to find balance between those two. Mine alternate since I run M-W-F every week - Last week I ran on low-carb days, this week I won't. Next week I may, depending on how Christmas morning looks since it's a Monday and I have some blueberry lemon cinnamon rolls to make for some very hungry kids!

That is interesting.  I'm sure it's nice to notice that you feel better on those days.  It helps with a little extra motivation.

I'm using Sunday's weigh in because I can.  Weight spiked mid week due to holiday events but I managed to get it back down and I tried to stay strong to end the week.  Peach came home over the weekend so we went out for brunch.  I thought I made really good choices and we packed up a lot of leftovers after being mindful and finishing before we were full.  Dinner was pizza but shared and totally reasonable.  My Monday weigh in was up a pound from Sunday and I'm just not going to let me scale take away the wins from yesterday and last week in general.  It'll make it a little more difficult to overcome this week but there will be cookies this week.  It was going to be a gain anyway.

I won't be home until Tuesday next week and though I'm sure I'll weigh in as I'll be curious I won't want to record that one anywhere so I'll skip next week and spend the rest of the year working back towards goal.

That is frustrating.   Sleep is so crucial.  Hopefully if you keep doing what you're doing and are able to catch up on sleep that  the scale will catch up too.

Last night I slept from 9-ish to 11:21 and then 11:21 to 1-ish. Then I gloriously slept to 5:27.

The night before was something like 9-11, 11-2, 2-3:45, 4-6. Or something. The 2 nights before that were similar. Our first kid surprised us with more nights of sleeping through. This one not so much. We had 4-5 days of complete sleep about a week and a half ago. Fingers crossed we'll drift back that way.

Ho ho ho!

I took the week off, and regret nothing. I suspect some of the weight gain is water related based on my swollen fingers, but even if it's all cookies and spicy pasta sauce, I regret nothing.

this month, I tried to catch up by losing 2 pounds a week, and between the holidays and just life in general, it isn't a sustainable effort for me. I am much happier with life at losing a pound a week, so I'll be going back to that after the holidays :)  That's what this group is about, anyway! :D

See you in a few days with the new spreadsheet. Merry Christmas!

Slight increase this week: that pretty-much jives with my sense of stagnation due to eating a little more loosely.  At least I was able to put the brakes on last week's surge.

Next week will be interesting: it starts with Christmas and ends the day after my birthday.  I fully intend to not go overboard with those and I still have to work the midweek, so I'll be pushing for and expecting a decrease; but I'll probably be checking it each morning so I can take the lowest for my official number to cap off what's been a pretty good Fitness Fall™.  B)

Saturday's weigh in was the lowest I've been in a long while. It was quite nice to see. I'm up today (153.9) after a beautiful Christmas feast and not near enough water. All the treats are out of the way now so the rest of this week should be alright. Low carb days today (Tuesday) and Thursday which should help me bounce back after yesterday and then I'm on my own Friday all day food-wise. Saturday I just have to worry about having dinner ready for the Man and boys when they return. Also resuming my normal running schedule after shifting yesterday's run to Sunday. Hopefully all of this will help with that final weigh in of this challenge!

You don't have to be perfect, you just have to be better than you were before. Do that every day and you will succeed.

Thanks, it's been nice so far. :)  Christmas morning the scale was down to 220.3.  I enjoyed the day with my family and made a fantastic turkey dinner that we all appreciated in its fullness.  My only over-indulgence was my wife's gift to me: a box of cocoa truffles that I love to have for the holidays.  Once they're opened they start to degrade quickly, so I went ahead and polished off the whole box over the course of the day.   If you can't splurge a couple thousand extra calories on Christmas then are you really even living?

Scale this morning was back up to 221.3, right where I left it. ;)  I should be able to touch the 220-line again by Friday.

I am so excited to start the new PVP, even though I know the number is not going to be what I want it to be. I feel like I did better with holiday stress this year not gaining weight until the Visiting Uncle arrived. Ah, visiting relatives... He's going to be here until January 2nd because he thinks he'll avoid holiday traffic that day.  :D That silly man!

I am excited for the new PVP as well!  I had to postpone my return from holiday travels due to weather.  That meant one more day of unabandoned cookie eating.  I did get a weigh in done today and it was brutal.  I regret nothing.  I behaved on vacation all the way to Christmas Eve and I'm proud of that.  My plan was to recover as much as possible before the Monday 1/1/24 weigh in but I'm kind of struggling with it atm.  I think I'm just going to be as mindful as I can to round out this year and then double down on Monday.

For some reason I'm reminded of @Ensi ;)

Apart from (pretty reasonable, actually) Christmas shenanigans I maintained steady disciplines this week and just kept applying pressure with only middling results--weight was hovering around 220 each morning--until POW!; this morning it finally dropped.  That's a low for the year, marking 28.2 lbs lost for this PVP (and my respawn) and 33.8 lbs from my peak back in March.  That's a fantastic way to end 2023!  Well, almost...I'm going to actually end the year with a "pint" of Häagen-Dazs after dinner tonight, then we'll be right back on the wagon tomorrow.  B)

Great work this year, everyone!  Hope to see y'all with even more success in the next one.

Would you just look at what I did?!?  This was the gauntlet (Christmas & Birthday) week I feared all season, and I CRUSHED IT!

These results are AMAZING. You've worked really hard to get to this point!

I didn't hit the mark I was aiming for.  I gained a little too much over the holidays to recover to pre traveling weight, let alone get down in the 250's.  But I still managed to lose a couple more pounds during the holiday challenge and that's a feat in itself.  I'm still pleased with the total loss for this PVP.  It's a reminder that it works slow and steady even when my brain weasels say it's a fool's errand.

Well, that went poorly  . I'm actually something like 5.5lbs down on my highest for the year, despite being 0.3lbs up on when I joined this challenge! I'll definitely join the next one though; the accountability was nice.

Don't say "I don't have enough time", say instead "that's not a priority right now" and see how that makes you feel.
