I did a deadlift!

I have always been afraid to touch the barbell, because I really didn't know what I was doing.

Thanks to the wonderful NF inspiration, a ton of you-tube videos all showing the same thing (when has that ever happened?!) and the WMAB, who acted as spotter, I deadlifted this morning for the first time ever.

 

Preacher Curl Bar: 25 pounds

Additional Weights: 20 pounds

Total reps: 5

Yay! I am VERY eager to try barbells, but scared to just waltz into the gym and start trying to figure it out on my own. I don't even know how to attach the plates to the bar. I am patiently waiting for a trainer I know to offer a beginning barbell seminar - it's supposedly in the works, but who knows when he will actually get around to it. Right now I do deadlifts with the heaviest weights I have at home: 25-lb and 35-lb kettlebells. The weight is uneven, but it's the only way I can get to 60 pounds. Still, that's not nearly enough weight.
