The Minimalism Game - 30 Days to Less Stuff! [Sept. 14 - Oct. 13, 2015]

Needed to readjust my priorities. Was stressing about having to do a daily drop off, and since I'm all about minimizing my stress these days I went ahead and dropped off everything to get me through day 21. I've been reminding myself that the goal is less stuff, and how I get there isn't necessarily as important. The game is still fun though. I love looking around to see what else I don't need. Every day I find more stuff that is dragging me down...... Time for it to go!

Day 17 - 31 Because: Numbers

 

 

1 cross-stitch project started and abandoned 15 years ago

2 sets earplugs my DH added to the pile

1 spool random silver thread

2 packs 5x7 photo paper

1 set taro cards in silk case

1 set runes in silk case

1 sewing machine instruction booklet

2 glass wedding favor jars

1 can 15 year old Oops!

1 spool something gross and sticky-isn

2 things amber color beads

1 spool hemp cordage

1 mini potion bottle for necklace making

1 random glue stick

1 pack ball chain fasteners

3 manilla envelopes

5 packs 8x10 photo paper

5 packs shipping labels

1 silhouette cameo instruction booklet

17 things, this time emptied from various places in the house and into the garbage.  Ugh so much clutter here and there!

1 folder from an apartment building containing a bunch of paperwork 

3 unused birthday cards - 1 hung on to 4

1 stack drawings for the flask I designed my DH

1 laptop dust cover

1 stack random papers

1 coupon book from the yoga thing I did in Times Square 

1 hand sanitizer

1 stack business cards and expired dog licenses

1 lonely earbud (sitting on 1 lump embroidery floss)

1 Fitbit charger

1 foot rolly ball I hate

The single sock it was housed in

 

And part of the dog, who needed to be needed

I finally got caught up from last week and this week! I still need to do today's, but all is better now that I've made it half way through this deal. We had a consignment sale so it was the perfect time for a massive purge of old baby clothes and whatnot.

We donated and sold 135 items! Woot woot!

Now, to get back down to business and finish this biah!

Days 15 & 16 done on time. Office stuff. Only got 10 yesterday, not because of lack of things to purge, just ran out of oomph. Realized that moving to the office before finishing the bedroom is not the battle plan and I was avoiding the sentimental clothes.

 

So, 20 from yesterday rolls over and joins today's that are waiting for me when I get home. I may not get home before D is asleep, so it all may roll over to tomorrow, or I can work in the office tonight and resume the clothes tomorrow...

 

Either way there's 50 items to do, and they may or may not join tomorrow's 30. Yikes!

And I want to say this. I do want more kids one day.. But I'm enjoying my pups right now and Orin just turned 1. I want him to be a little older, maybe going on 3 when we try again. I love my kids and I want to strangle them sometimes but I love them more than anything, especially at this age. They are so curious [emoji1]

1 mini farm hut I used in the pictures I took for my first self-published cookbook

1 hang Williams Sonoma green ribbon

1 Tokidoshi wallet I love but am no longer using

A couple yards black jersey fabric

A beer holder I was using as an art supplies corral

Oil crayons

My old man’s collar - I have all of his tags, a lock of his hair, and his ashes. I can let his collar go, even though it’s still a nice collar.

Whew, I'm finally caught up through tomorrow. Finished cleaning out my closet, and threw out a TON of old, dried-out paints. I made myself reduce the paint collection to just what fits in a single old ice cream container. Much more manageable!

 

I still haven't gotten very far into cleaning out art supplies, or my desk, which is buried in stacks of paper. Going to sort through a box of old electronics today...
