1RM Back Squat

Last time I did it on my own, this time it was the WOD  that called for it. Didn't expect to push my PR in less than one week, but gave it a shot regardless. Hit 294lb again and failed three attempts at 314lb.

That's a pretty big jump for a new PR, maybe you should've tried something around 300 lbs.

Congrats on the Squat Clean PR!

30 Snatches for time

Score: 3'17"

Comments: Wasn't feeling it, but gave it a shot nonetheless. Saw my only documented performance was 4'06" from Dec 6, 2016 at 94lb so I was split between upping the weight or going for a better score at the same. Opted for the latter and it paid off, as I shaved off nearly a minute from last year's score. What I'm most happy about though is I kept a consistent pace through the workout, with no breaks or breathers.

1' Burpees

1' Double Unders

1' Rest

Score

Row: 18/16/14/12/11/12 (83 cal total)

Round 3: 43 reps

Round 4: 46 reps

I know the numbers don't match. Must have made some calculation error while mathing when out of breath. Still a good workout, kicked my ass but my conditioning was better than I thought and I only paused once or twice during the rope jumps to refocus and catch my breath, otherwise kept moving all the time.

Olympic Lifting is all about technique, you really can't get far on raw strength. I'd say above all, be aware of what the class is about (technique and form check/Strength building/1RM testing etc) and try to focus on proper technique, especially on the harder lifts like the Snatch. As you get better, you'll add some more weight and see where you're at.

Yeah yeah yeah i know, technique bla bla bla ;):P

IIRC during the last throwdown we did, i got to 110 lbs on the squat snatch, that was my second time i did snatches (intro lessons was the first). So it wasn't all that bad. I'm not even sure we are gonna train snatches. I have seen a couple of oly lessons, it's technique technique technique, so don't worry!
