Ok, a busy but good weekend, let's see what I can remember from it.

Friday - got a good workout in at lunch. Left work a bit early and got the trim screwed on for my decking. Off to church in the evening for retreat set up. Very tired by the end.

Saturday - up early and off to the retreat. A very good day, but a long and tiring one. Wasn't originally planning to give myself social points, but after realizing how wiped I was after, I decided it totally counts. Got home and just crashed.

Sunday - woke up with my back hurting and was tired and cranky most of the day. Got to church and then slept for a couple hours at home, got a little bit of stair work done, but mostly just lay around.

Pretty sure my mattress is the culprit for the back pain, so mattress shopping is definitely on the list for this week. Will take some time later to do a full week 2 report and plans for week 3, but have to dash off to get some work done now.

Righty ho then, how did Week 2 go?

Ordination - taking it slow here this week. We'll see what response I get about setting up a psych eval, and I won't be in class on Saturday due to the retreat, so the main goal is to keep up with assignments and make it through the retreat.

Scheduling the psych eval is in the works. The retreat went very well. I got to lead morning prayer (in front of my summer class professor, who is an Archdeacon, a little intimidating) as well as overseeing the practical details of the retreat. Only downside is that spending so much of the day sitting in a pew did not do anything for my poor, abused back. Oh, and other downside is that I am now officially behind on class work, though I should be able to catch up once I seriously apply myself.

Strength - It is upper, lower, upper day this week. Planning to work out today, tomorrow, and either Thursday or Friday.

Got all three of my workouts in.

On 9/16/2024 at 9:56 AM, Artemis Prime said:

Barndominium - taking it slow here as well. Won't have a ton of time to work on this, so tonight I plan to finish the last row of decking, and if that's all I get, that's okay. Secondary goal is to call my contact at the electric company and see what exactly needs to happen to get a live hookup.

Finished the decking, including the trim and caulking, so that's a big win. Did not call the electric company, although I did dig out the phone number for it.

All in all, not too shabby. Netted enough points to be slightly ahead of my target goal. A solid week.

For this week's goals:

Ordination - Just keep watching for psych eval news and make a more concentrated effort on class work. My head is way too fuzzy with my poor sleep lately to digest heavy theology, but I'm hoping to address that today.

Strength - Lower, upper, lower week. Think I am changing up my lower days, instead of doing heavy squats and deadlifts on the same day, think I will do squat/RDL one day and deadlift/lunge (or maybe reverse Nordic curls) on the other. Will need to ponder whether that means I am consistently doing 2 lower days (which means weeks with 2 upper days would have 4 workouts - not something I'm opposed to, but do need to consider the extra time commitment) or if I am okay with greatly reducing the frequency of my squats and deadlifts.

Barndominium - Have my first stair stringer marked and ready to cut. I'm pretty sure I have it marked too long and will need to trim it down, but can't be certain until the cut is made, and better too long than too short. Goal this week is to get both stair stringers cut and installed. Plus calling the electric company guy since I didn't do that last week, and if I'm really motivated perhaps call my uncle as well to get his input on some things.

The week schedule is shaping up to:

Monday - Taking it easy, an aching back is no joke. Rainy today, so just going to hole up with my book on my lunch break. After work, heading to the mattress store. I can already feel the pull of going straight home instead, but have recruited the discord nerds to hold me to mattress shopping. If all goes well, I will buy one today and it will be delivered tomorrow. Ideally would cut the stringer tonight and/or do some class work, but we will see how long mattress shopping takes and how my back and brain feel.

Tuesday - Assuming my back is up to it, lifting on my lunch break. Otherwise, class stuff. Dinner with my sister.

Wednesday - Probably lifting on my lunch break, helping my neighbor after work.

Thursday - Class work during lunch. Barn work in the evening.

Friday - Possibly lift at lunch. If not, we'll see. Maybe class work, maybe errands, maybe just turn my brain off for an hour. Forbidden Lands in the evening.

Saturday - Lift if I didn't yesterday. Class at 10. Barn work and probably house work the rest of the day.

Sunday - Chalice-bearing at church and assisting with Sunday school. Maybe do a bit of barn work and class work in the afternoon, but also plenty of chilling as well.

Just chilled in my office at lunch, got a bit of reading done. Made it to the mattress store thanks to some positive peer pressure from @Heidi and the discord nerds. Got a foam mattress that I think I'll like, but unfortunately will not get it quite as quickly as I wanted. Should be in some time this week, but I was really hoping for next day delivery. Ah well, at least it's done. It was late enough and I was tired enough  by the time I got home that I didn't do much. Ate dinner, lay on the heating pad, fantasized about my new bed. Was kind of uncomfortable on the couch, so I did go up to bed and the mattress of doom. Piled some pillows up strategically. I did sleep, not sure if the pillows helped or if I was just too exhausted for anything to keep me awake. My back still hurts today, but not quite as bad and I'm more rested than yesterday. I'm giving myself Gentle Repose points for mattress buying, plus I did some refrigerator clean-out for Turn Undead points.

Today, I got Light and Word of Radiance points. Going to skip the gym again today, I'm improved but not better. Might do errands at lunch, might do class work, might just chill again. Basically I'm giving myself a pass to do or not do whatever feels most beneficial at the moment until my back and sleep are better. Considering a chiro run, but it seems more logical to wait until I'm not sleeping on a busted mattress to do that.

The downside is that it's a bit remote, but actually not as bad as I thought before looking it up.  You are 7.7 miles away from Slippery Rock University, which has a nice gym and library, or there is also Slippery Rock Community Library, which I admittedly have not visited since they put up a new building, but they recently-ish (it's probably been a few years already) built a new library, so it's probably pretty nice in there. About a 15 minute drive to get there. It is only 3 miles away from me, which is clearly it's biggest selling point ?

Clearly we need to talk to the landowner that is at the 1.5 mile midpoint and buy the square yard that we'll use to set up a shelter with a tea kettle, two makeshift reading chairs, and a lantern. :)

Am now ignoring eerything else for ten minutes while I look up Slippery Rock University.

The halfway point is a hayfield. That's the guy I buy my hay from; he's good people. Although now that I think of it, I don't know that he's actually the landowner, just that he farms it. Opposite side of the road is also pretty good people, although I've only had very limited contact with them. They do horses and beef there and have very nice trails on the property, or at least did 25 years ago when my friend and I rode our quads back there.

Ok, took yesterday pretty easy. Stayed in on my lunch break, lay down for a bit before going over to my sister's for dinner, had an early bedtime when I got home.

Slept in the guest room last night; I don't really like that bed, but it's my best option at the moment. Back is still sore, but on the mend, I think. Sleep improves everything. Got a Light point this morning, but forgot about an early work meeting, so ended up skipping Morning Prayer, which means the Shadow will get to attack. If it's not raining on my lunch break, I'll go run some errands, otherwise I'll stay in and do some class reading. I'll be at least one workout short this week, so the Vampirate will get an attack, but I'm going to give them disadvantage. I don't want to completely skip their attack since that seems like a slippery slope, but I'm also not skipping workouts just for the hell of it, so disadvantage it is.

Salary board meets...right about now, actually, so should get official word on the job in about an hour. Was going to tell my supervisor at this morning's meeting, but she forgot about it and didn't show, so the rest of my department knows but she doesn't yet.

Helping my neighbor after work, so I'll get Bless points for that. Need to start making some progress again if I'm going to stay on track.
