Hit Weight Gain Goal

Recommended Posts

A lot of people rib me when I tell them that I am trying to gain weight, but I have spent most of my life quite scrawny. I have never reached 190 pounds. I usually weigh between 182 and 188 at 6'3" tall.

I had a goal of reaching 190 pounds and I hit that goal today! That's 190 pounds of lean muscle, too!

Unfortunately, my weight fluctuates about 6-8 pounds throughout a day so I won't know where on the spectrum that weight hits for a day or two but it just may be time to raise my goal to 200 pounds.

Awesome! That's exactly what I'm going to try and do. I've always been quite skinny and I'm fed up!

I want change and I want to gain muscle, any pointers?

I don't know much (I'm trying for muscle and being smaller) but I can ask my dad! When he was in high school he was the short, skinny guy. Right now, he's shorter than 5'7". I'm as tall as he is. (And both of his best friends were tall and kinda burly- he said it looked like he had two security guards in HS). But when he got into college he got really hard core into weightlifting and such so he got pretty built. If I remember properly, there was a TON of protein and carbs involved. Getting bigger involves a calorie surplus but you have to make sure it's a calorie surplus of good things! (I'm also taking this from some of the articles I read in my inbox from Steve and Co, there's entire blogs dedicated to skinny guys who wanna bulk up here, here, and here if you're curious)

There is a lot of info around the net. The biggest thing for me has been cutting out cardio. It was burning too many calories. My body was burning muscle so I never got any stronger.

I'm on a muscle building routine and eating a lot of protein supplement.
