And while we are discussing what counts. I have some questions. Do any of these count as pull ups or assited.

 

Ring exercises

Inverted hang

Skin the Cat

 

And the baby muscle up. which is a progression of muscle up, which is sort of a pull up, only the rings are lower and the grip is differet

From the videos you posted, I'd class these more as hanging exercises than assistance? They seem to be predominantly grip and core based. 

 

There are a million and one different variations of pulling and hanging exercises out there so we could spend the entire four weeks debating what's "allowed" and what's not! :D

This PvP is to help people increase their pull ups or do their first pull up. If there is an exercise that you do as part of your routine that is helping you reach that goal, then I'd say count it as 2 points per rep (1 point per 20 sec for timed hangs).

 

How's everyone's week been? I'm happy to report that all the pull up work is paying off and I'm back to doing 2 pull ups in as row. They're not the prettiest of pull ups and the ROM needs a little work, but it's still an improvement so I'll take it!

Got my second session in for the week:

 

Deadhangs from rock grips - 6 x 15 seconds - 4 points

Scap pulls from rock grips - 12, 8, 12, 12 - 88 points

Pull ups - 5, 5, 4, 3, 5 - 66 points

Alternating chin-ups and hammer-ups - 5, 4, 5 - 42 points (totally ran out of energy here, there should have been another three sets!)

 

Total: 200 points

 

Total for challenge so far: 467 points and currently in 2nd place.

 

My plan is generally going to be sessions Monday, Wednesday, Friday. This week I'm probably going to enter a climbing competition on Friday though, in which case I won't have any arms left for pullup training afterwards!

Did 3 x 10 of Aussie Pull-ups (horizontal pull-ups) at the playground yesterday while the wolfpack played and then did 3 x 12 of T-bar rows this morning before I hopped in the pool and swam for 30 min. Currently at 217 and in 4th place. @Cheetah is just 7 points behind me. YIKES!

Thanks CQ, I like that solution, that seems easy.

The thing that I'm most happy about is my scapular pull ups. I've done them before, but always felt like I didn't have very much movement. This time I can actually feel the movement in my shoulders.

Got in a workout yesterday at the park which included:

 

L-sit pullups x5

tuck lever -> tuck pullup x10

CTB pullups x5

pull jump thingys* x10

widearm pullups x10

 

 * kind of like a salmon ladder except the bars are fixed and I have to jump around from bar to bar

Did a KB complex this morning and added in KB bent over rows for a total of 70 pts (7 rounds of 5 reps). Then finished with 3 x 10 DB bicep curls superset with 3 x :20 dead hangs for another 63 pts. 

 

Total: 133 pts

 

I miiiiight get some pull-ups in this weekend..but I'm pretty spent from this week. Lol. 

 

PLUS... @Legionary has a commanding lead that's going to be tough to catch up too. I'll be happy to finish top 5 ;)

Got in a big pull workout this morning:

 

CTB pullups x10

Front lever lifts x10

L-sit pullups x10

Front lever extensions x10

Tuck front lever ->  tuck pullup x10

Tuck front lever rows x10

CTB hold x20 seconds

 

I also did some back lever stuff but only counted 2 pts per rep because they are more of a peripheral exercise than the front pulling ones

 

Tuck back lever lifts x10

Back lever extensions x10

Well the bad news is our air quality was too bad for me to do my outdoor ring workout. But the good news is that gave me more time and energy to do pull ups

Did Ring Rows today so that I could do pull ups on Wed (when I have hockey and can't do a proper leg workout anyway).

10 x 5 for 50 total and 100pts.

Then a 40" hold into slow negative at the end of the workout for another 4 pts.
