Daily Dares [3/30/2016 - 4/29/2016]

So for the judo pushups, do you do a full pushup or just move from downward dog into a pushup position and back? It doesn't look like there's a video for this one.

I don't know how to embed it, but there's a video here that looks more like downward into upward dog. Why are there conflicting instructions, it drives me mad every time?!

Sorry. I like doing things right and now I don't know what right is. I will do as in the video, I guess, it looks cool.

Hahahahaha no. It loosk cool, but it's way too difficult for me right now, considering that my nose is stuffed and my right arm has been hurting for a few days (no idea what's up with that, but it feels like it's getting worse, not better). So "rolling into the push-up position" is just not going to happen. And just moving from downward dog to push-up via plank doesn't count, so I'm out for today.

Just barely managed the judo pushups with EC (glad the target wasn't 26). I was making funny noises by the end of it :)
Should've done them earlier in the day, rather than after karate, where I also did pushups...

I missed Saturday and Sundays because I had a crazy weekend, so I was hoping to come back to something that I could EC today to make up some points but NOPE. 

 

It doesn't look like that's an official Darebee video so I'd say go with what the directions say? I don't think you're supposed to do an actual push up though, just roll into the bottom of a push up position like a chaturanga. Definitely not going to be able to EC these (my push ups are crap) but I'll give it a shot tonight!

 

I think part of the problem with the conflicting instructions is that for the daily dare they only have a few lines and two stills to show you, while a video is more comprehensive.  Most of the time I've seen the videos and it seems different from how I interpreting the daily dare instructions but upon closer inspection they aren't actually conflicting.  I think they are assuming the reader knows too much when posting the Daily Dares to be honest.

Done with EC and lots of swearing.  

 

Anyone else's calves killing them after all that jumping yesterday?

Current Big Fat Hairy Goals:  Hip to Waist Ratio down to 88%.  Capable of 50 pushups, 100 situps, 20 pull-ups in one massive superset.  Able to do a bodyweight bench press.  Run 10K 1/week for 1 month.  Earn 2nd Degree Black Belt.

 

Why?  Because I want to model the kind of health and strength that I want my girls to have when they grow up.

Never come across judo push-ups before. They actually felt a little easier than regular full push-ups. I don't know why, maybe the different range of motion was a little easier on my wrists? Either way, managed EC, and I know I can't do 25 full push-ups in a row without either stopping or dropping to my knees. Might have to add these in to my regular schedule.

Okay, I'm back after a brief break! I guess I should have checked here before I did these - I ended up doing downward dog to push up position, then did a push up at the bottom, then back to downward dog. V Ups done with EC, but zero grace.

 

Loving these daily dares, getting a good idea of areas of strength (or lack thereof) that I can work on. Has anyone tried one of the 30 day programs? Fighters' Codex sounds interesting.

I did their foundation program last challenge and liked it (just for getting a bit of exercise in every day that isn't yoga), but it became very rep-heavy... and more of an endurance than strength feat. I started on their 30 days of HIIT but haven't been very committed so far. I think I'd rather make my own plan, with certain goals in mind, than follow their routines just for the sake of doing something.

I was thinking of doing the Fighter's Codex with my heavy bag next challenge.  My bag is outdoors, I live in Canada, so it should make for perfect temperatures, and a great outdoors workout.

 

 

I'll do a PvP with you on that one if you're up for it.  We can virtual high five when we finish every day's workout.
