Get To Da Choppa: Pull-up PvP [Aug 13 - Sept 9 ]

I did 5 x 4 GtG pull-ups after work yesterday for another 60 pts. Nothing so far today. Gonna shoot for another 5+ sets of GtG when I get home.

I'm not physically able to do pull ups as often as I would like to as my elbows protest if I try, so I'm going to finish quite far down the leader board. But that's OK! I'm doing this to help myself get better and seeing everyone else push hard is inspiring me to keep up with my training.

I think it is smart to listen to your body,  and take it at your pace.  I had the same issue  before, where my tendons in my elbows or shoulders would bother me, so I  had to slow down.  Now I am able to do a lot more before they squawk. I think that taking it slow gave the tendons time to get stronger.

The only thing I can see is that Starpuck's points field is empty. Everything else seems to be working fine. @Starpuck I've looked at the previous version that was saved on 21st Aug at 5:19pm (GMT) and your points then were 275.

That sounds about right!   I know that I added 104 to the first number, and 171 sounds about right.

I did 6x4 GtG last night for 72 total points. Trying to be consistent and I already feel myself getting stronger (and sexier),

I did ring rows on Monday so that I could save my heavier upper body day for today (since I have hockey tonight) so since my last time doing actual band assisted pull ups, here's the new totals.  Exciting stuff here!

 

10, 9, 7, 5, 5 (36 total)

 

The only sad thing is... once I take the band away, those numbers are gonna drop like crazy, right?  But I am a BIG proponent of 'you only get better at doing, what you're actually doing'.   If I want to get real pull ups back, I need to strip the training wheels off at some point.      I usually wait until I can do 2-3 sets of 10 good form assisted, so I have another week or so before that happens I think.

 

Still this is great stuff!  Those titans don't stand a chance!

I like band assisted pull ups, but I think it does get to a point where you rely on the bands too much. There are other assistance methods you can try, like chair assisted. That might bridge that gap between the bands and normal pull ups as you can vary the amount of assistance you give yourself with your feet. You could try jumping pull ups too. I've found those really helpful.

Only managed 1 set of 7 yesterday for 21 pts. I haven't been able to hit up the gym this week for actually workouts because we were offered OT that I couldn't pass up. I'm going to go crazy this weekend with GtG though :)

Wasn't feeling great today.   But I chose to work out anyway and see if I could push through it.

Spoiler:  I was weak as shit and called everything early.

Did just 3 sets of pull ups, 9,9,4 - yeah I tapped out hard fast.

Then did a set of DB rows, and a set of BB Rows for another 2 sets total of 8 reps each.

So, 66 on the pull ups, 32 on the rows for 98 total.  Bleh.

Now I sit in my office, in my birthday suit, trying to calm the nausea, lol.

Got some rows in and 11  assisted GTG pull ups. Was hoping for more, but I am feeling very done and ready to just sit for the rest of the evening
