Ive never done audiobooks!

Do you do other things at the same time? i struggle to focus on more than one thing haha

I need to get going, havent chosen my next book and been a while since i read :(

Oh nooo, i couldn't read a book and listen to a different book at the same time, though i'd love to be able to. I was able to do some of my assignments while listening, though! :D

Try not to worry about it! If reading is a chore or something you have to do, you're not likely to get much out of it. Do you know of any books you want to read or are interested in reading?

I have so much trouble focusing on audiobooks, but I want to try one of the ones that has a cast reading. Multiple voices might help me pay more attention.

I find that if i try to just listen to the audiobook, i can't focus on it, but if i'm doing something else at the same time like coloring or crochet or some simple activity, i can pay attention better.

Multiple voices would be lovely, like listening to a radio play! ^_^  I think we had a version of The Hobbit like that once, but it might have just been one person who was good at doing different voices.

BBC's full-cast radio plays are excellent!

Hi guys!  I have a reading goal for the year in the battle log and I just found this thread.  I'm totally in.  My goal is just to read 300 days during the year.  I don't care how many books that turns out to be.  I used to read all the time and then grad school and babies and I just lost the habit.  I'm trying to pick it back up again and expand a little.   I like historical fictions the most, supernatural/mystery (mostly Stephen King), and some non fiction but that tends to go more slowly.  I love the idea of the Read Harder challenge.    It's just the thing I need to look outside of my comfort zone.

I don't know if audiobooks count here but, i just started The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*CK. Also read three chapters of (paperback copy) Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell :D I haven't much tried audiobooks before, but am finding i enjoy listening.

Ahem. It is stated very clearly in the challenge rules:

2. Audio books count as reading. If this rule isn't self-explanatory to you, that's fine, as long as you don't question it.

I would also like to humbly suggest that the art of not giving a fuck often is far from subtle. ;)

Hi Mia! I meant, do you do other tasks etc whilst listening? I guess could i listen whilst working? Likely not as i cant concentrate on both tasks!!!

I am unsure really what to read. Maybe Boy Parts by Eliza Clark (been on my list for a while)

I finished Katherine Arden's The Bear and the Nightingale over the weekend. Highly recommended for fans of Naomi Novik's Spinning Silver. I'm very stingy with my 5 star ratings, so this one didn't quite get there, but it was close! Very excited to read the rest of the trilogy.

I'm still slogging through the non fiction I started in December.  Instead of waiting to finish it I went ahead and started something else at the same time.  Magic Lessons by Alice Hoffman.  I've only downloaded the sample so far but now it will take me even longer to finish my non fiction.

5/50 :)

I'm building good momentum for this year, which is nice. My goal is to average at least four books per month, but the further ahead of things I get, the easier it will become. :)

As a direct result of @Alanna's challenge thread, I have showed up (late but eager) to the Garth Nix party. I just finished The Left-Handed Booksellers of London and I loved every word of it. I'm using it for the task in my reading challenge "Read a book set in a bookstore." I know only parts of it are set in a bookstore, but that is true of almost every book - and the bookshops are significant in this one, so I'm going with it.

For the "Read an entire poetry collection" task I just started Call Us What We Carry by Amanda Gorman, and it is as wonderful as anyone who has ever read Gorman would expect.

I have not actually read that particular book of his, but it's on my to read list after a few recommendations! That's great that it works for your challenge, too - I'm trying to think if I've read any books that would fit that category.

I have finished my first book of 2022 - I took a brief break from The Priory of the Orange Tree to tear through Naomi Novik's The Last Graduate after I got it for a pound on a Kindle sale. The former has been good, but I'm struggling a little to make it through it because of the four perspectives and the story's high stakes - I think I gravitate towards lighter stories and easier reads when I'm stressed.

My reading goes in waves and I'm currently trying to get out of a many month long slump. Tragic I know. But I started The House in the Cerulean Sea today, hopefully that will pull me out!

Of course, as many as you want. They're in the basked by the sign that says "Free to a Good Home", over there by the entrance.
