There is no reason to let that stop you from going for the eyes of your enemies. It's somewhat challenging while backstabbing, but it can absolutely be done, and is quite satifying.

I seldomly play as a backstabber. I prefer the "honourable" approach.*

* Ghost of Tsushima was the exception. Can't be the Ghost - or win - if you fight like an honourable samurai vs opponents who use every trick in the book. 😇

Backstab eyeballs... from behind? But how?

For me it's all about the gameplay. I spent a lot of time sneaking and throat cutting in Skyrim because Skyrim rewards that sort of behaviour. But I also like running up to enemies and frontstabbing them.

Did a somatic therapy via zoom. It didn't go well because zoom wouldn't open so I wasted ten minutes on that before the therapist just called by phone. She had only scheduled half an hour, so we did about 25 minutes after the late start. It was okay talking by phone but not ideal. She had some good ideas.

I slept badly so the rest of the day was one short walk and then just BG1. I'm torn between the kind of class I want and the kind of sprite (the in game figures with different appearances) that I want. Dilemma.

The same way one would throat-slit from behind. Long arms and lots of silence ;)

The Great Reading Thread of 2024

“I've always believed that failure is non-existent. What is failure? You go to the end of the season, then you lose the Super Bowl. Is that failing? To most people, maybe. But when you're picking apart why you failed, and now you're learning from that, then is that really failing? I don't think so." - Kobe Bryant, 1978-2020. Rest in peace, great warrior.

been there. Sucks losing talk time but I still prefer it over the 60 mins of commuting round trip.

last time I BG1’d, i did a Druid and I didn’t mind the sprite options for the class.

I'm visualising this, with really long fingers going for the eyes and just taking them out.

Oh, that's a long trip. I can take a 15 minute walk to mine, which is much better.

Depends on the race. I like the humans in heavy or light armour, and the elves in the thief or mage sprites. The Dwarves look great in anything. I don't love the elf fighter sprites, which includes the druid sprite.

Today I did a walk and some packing and tidying and BG1. Things are okay. Off to France tomorrow.

What will you get to see in France?

Cassis is on the Côte d'Azur, near Marseilles. It has lovely cliffs that the impressionists liked to paint, and we are near the sea. There are charming little villages, like Aix en Provence, that can be reached by car. But I will mostly rest and look at the trees and water and cliffs.

There's no specific internet at the house, only whatever my phone has, so I may drop in just briefly to say hello. I'm not really sure how much internet data my phone has. Probably plenty for browsing but not videos?

It should be the same everywhere within the EU.

Oops, so there was no wifi at the house, and I couldn't use my phone's hotspot because my laptop needs updating, which only works with internet. I don't keep my logins or passwords on my phone, so I got a fortnight off NF.

Cassis is nice, but unfortunately my energy took a nosedive toward the end and I was pretty badly on the day before and of the flight home. Mr Harriet did a lot for me, but he also got a bit frustrated and went into problem solving mode when we got home, which was stressful for me because it involved reminding me that I had more energy in the past (I think I just advocated less for myself and put up with more) and that maybe I should do psychotherapy (I've done lots) because there must be a psychological component to the fatigue (yeah a bit but I think he's focusing on that because it feels more "fixable").

I think I was just sleeping badly on the uncomfortable bed and also that maybe deciding to say "fuck it" to healthy eating and just eat toast/croissants three times a day was not the best choice. And yes, there was also a psychological element whereby I became quite avoidant. That happens whenever I don't fight it.

I took my iPad but did no painting after the first few days. I had cool books but kept re-reading my health and weight loss books/listening to similar podcasts (why? why do I do this? it's so boring. Why didn't I read my book on the history of mammals instead? But I guess it's a form of withdrawal--the mental equivalent of white noise with the additional bonus of giving me the incorrect impression I am doing some self improvement).

I think I have a strong tendency to withdraw from the world, and I manage it at home with routines, plans, habits, etc, but that goes out the window on holiday. So I need to manage that a bit better by planning ahead. This doesn't mean doing more than I can manage physically, but just trying to make sure that my anxiety, inertia, and avoidance are not the limiting factors. I estimate that I can do about 2 hours of activity per day without making myself worse, and maybe 4 hours a couple of times a week. I should maybe track that.

That really sucks and is hugely unfair when you've been trying so hard for so long to get to the bottom of the issue!

When i am tired it is harder to make healthy choices. I also tend to reread things ive read before. They're comforting and lower energy.
its hard when your body goes into survival mode.

they are currently doing a massive genetic profile for CFS in the uk as it tends to run in families in many cases (my mother also has CFS/M.E. for example) . Might be worth pointing out to mr harriet that they do not try to find genetic markers for something that is psychological.

I know. I feel like my whole life revolves around managing the fatigue and lack of motivation that accompanies it. I panic whenever he suggests I should be doing more. I really really really don't want to go back to how I used to feel all the time when I was overdoing it.

My brain definitely seems to be on very low battery mode a lot of the time.

Oh, he knows it's physical. He sees me wheezing after walking a slight hill, for example, and knows about POTS. It's just.... he always seems to forget the details and his mind always drifts back to the psychological aspect. There is a psychological aspect, it's just not primary in my opinion.
